You know what struck me first about Park Lane Apartments on Clarges Street? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet little side street in Mayfair, which honestly feels like finding a secret in one of London’s busiest neighborhoods. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Green Park tube station and somehow it’s peaceful enough that you can sleep with the windows cracked open. The building itself has that classic Georgian thing going on – the kind of white stone facade that screams expensive London real estate, but in a good way. When I checked in, the lobby was smaller than I expected (not tiny, just not grand hotel massive), with this marble floor that actually echoes a bit when you walk across it in the morning.

The apartments themselves are proper spacious, which you definitely don’t take for granted in central London. Mine had these tall windows that let in crazy amounts of light, and honestly, the kitchen was better equipped than my flat back home – I’m talking proper appliances, not those sad hotel mini-fridges. The beds are comfortable enough, though I will say the air conditioning can be a bit temperamental (classic London building quirk). What really got me was being able to walk to Fortnum & Mason in about three minutes for proper coffee, or cut through to Bond Street for shopping without dealing with the Piccadilly circus – literally and figuratively. The concierge team actually knows the area well too; they pointed me toward this brilliant little pub on Shepherd Market that I never would’ve found otherwise.

Here’s the thing though – with a 7.2 rating for a 5-star place, you’re getting exactly what that suggests. It’s genuinely nice, the location is absolutely unbeatable if you want to be in the heart of Mayfair, and the apartment-style setup means you can actually live a bit instead of just sleeping somewhere. But it’s not going to blow your mind with service or have that wow factor you might expect from the star rating. The staff is professional but not particularly warm, and some of the furnishings feel a bit… well, safe corporate rather than charming. Still, if you’re the type who values being able to walk to Half Moon Street or having Piccadilly right there without paying Park Lane hotel prices, this place makes a lot of sense. Just don’t expect it to feel boutique or particularly personal – it’s more like a really well-located, comfortable base for exploring one of London’s best neighborhoods.
