Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to Ten Trinity Square – I mean, the City of London isn’t exactly where you’d think to look for a romantic getaway, right? But this Four Seasons completely changed my mind about staying in the financial district. The building itself is this gorgeous Edwardian masterpiece that used to house the Port of London Authority, and you can actually feel the history in those thick stone walls and soaring ceilings.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to create this incredibly sophisticated retreat right in the middle of all those glass towers and banking headquarters. The location is actually perfect if you think about it – you’re literally a two-minute walk from Tower Bridge (the views from some upper floor rooms are insane), and Monument station is right there when you need to hop on the tube. Plus, here’s something most people don’t realize: the City empties out completely on weekends, so you’ve got these beautiful old streets practically to yourself for morning walks. The staff clearly knows their stuff too – check-in was smooth even though we arrived early, and they had restaurant recommendations that went way beyond the obvious tourist spots.

The rooms feel properly luxurious without being stuffy, which is harder to pull off than you’d think. Our bathroom had this massive soaking tub that I may have spent too much time in, and the bed was one of those cloud-like situations where you sink right in but still feel supported. You know what impressed me most though? The little details that show someone’s actually thinking about the guest experience. The coffee setup was proper espresso machine quality, not those terrible pod things, and the blackout curtains actually blocked out the streetlights completely. I sleep terribly in hotels usually, but not here. The only minor thing is that King William Street can get a bit noisy during weekday rush hours, but honestly, by evening it’s dead quiet. If you’re someone who appreciates staying somewhere with real character – and you don’t mind paying for the privilege – this place delivers in a way that those generic luxury chains just can’t match.
