Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about this place? The address sounds all fancy and corporate – High Timber Street in the City – but honestly, once you’re inside this serviced apartment, it feels way more like having your own proper London pad than staying in some sterile business hotel. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from St Paul’s Cathedral (and I actually timed it because I’m that person), but the building itself sits on this quieter street that doesn’t get the tourist chaos.
The apartment itself is well… it’s a proper one-bedroom setup, not one of those studio things where your bed doubles as your dining table. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the Tesco Metro on Queen Victoria Street – which, let me tell you, becomes really appealing when you realize how much London restaurants cost these days. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to make it feel homey without going overboard on the “boutique” styling. The furniture’s decent quality, nothing wobbly or clearly from the cheapest catalogue, and there’s proper storage space. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does everything right without any major annoyances.
Location-wise, this is where it gets interesting. You’re right in the thick of the financial district, which means weekdays it’s buzzing with suited people grabbing coffee, but weekends? Almost eerily quiet, in a good way. The Millennium Bridge is basically on your doorstep – I could see people crossing it from the window – so getting over to Tate Modern or Borough Market is dead easy. And here’s something the typical hotel descriptions won’t tell you: the Blackfriars station is actually closer than it sounds, maybe a four-minute walk, and you’ve got both tube and overground options there. Parking’s going to be expensive (this is central London, after all), but honestly, you won’t need a car from this spot. The only downside I noticed was that High Timber Street can get a bit noisy during weekday rush hours – nothing terrible, but if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs. Overall though, if you want to feel like you’re actually living in London rather than just visiting, and you don’t mind paying four-star prices for a proper home base in zone one, this place delivers on that promise.
