Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Earl’s Court Luxe Apartment? The name’s actually pretty spot-on – it really does feel more like staying in someone’s well-appointed flat than a typical hotel. I mean, you’re right on Penywern Road, which honestly most tourists have never heard of, but locals know it’s this perfect little pocket between the chaos of Earl’s Court Road and the posh bits of South Ken. The building itself has that classic London red-brick thing going on, and when you walk up (there’s a lift, thank god), you immediately get why this place scored an 8.3 rating.
The apartment setup is what really makes this work – you’ve got proper living space, not just a bed crammed next to a tiny desk like most London hotels. The kitchen’s actually functional too, which is brilliant because honestly, eating out for every meal in this city will bankrupt you. I loved that they’d stocked it with decent coffee and some basics, though the kettle’s one of those fancy ones that takes forever to figure out. The bedroom’s got blackout curtains that actually work (you’d be surprised how rare this is), and the shower has proper pressure – again, not a given in London. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re literally five minutes from Earl’s Court tube station. The street gets some foot traffic but nothing crazy, and the windows do a good job keeping the noise down.
Location-wise, this is where it gets interesting. Earl’s Court’s got this reputation for being a bit rough around the edges, and while there’s still the odd late-night kebab shop crowd, it’s cleaned up massively in recent years. You’re actually perfectly positioned – Gloucester Road’s museum district is a fifteen-minute walk through some gorgeous garden squares, and you can hit Harrods or the V&A without dealing with central London transport madness. The Earl’s Court Road itself has everything you need daily – Tesco Metro, decent pubs, that brilliant Lebanese place that’s always packed with locals. Plus, and this is huge, you’ve got both the District and Piccadilly lines right there, so getting anywhere in London is straightforward. I stayed during a busy summer week and never felt like I was fighting tourist crowds the way you do around Covent Garden or Westminster. Check-in was refreshingly simple too – none of that awkward lobby waiting around, just straight up to your space. For a 4-star place, it punches above its weight, though I’d say the décor’s a bit safe (lots of beige and navy) if you’re looking for Instagram moments. But honestly? Sometimes you just want a comfortable, well-located base that doesn’t cost a fortune, and this nails that brief perfectly.
