Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from another “heart of Fitzrovia” listing, but this Charlotte Street flat actually delivers on that promise. I mean, you step out the front door and you’re literally surrounded by some of London’s best independent coffee shops and galleries – not the touristy stuff, but the places where actual Londoners grab their morning flat white before work. The building itself has that classic Georgian charm you see all over this part of Camden, though honestly, the real magic happens once you’re inside.
The space feels properly lived-in rather than sterile – and I say that as a compliment. Both bedrooms are genuinely spacious (rare for central London, let’s be honest), and the kitchen’s got everything you’d actually need if you decide to cook instead of hitting up Roka or Dabbous down the street. What really won me over was the living area – there’s this huge window that catches the afternoon light beautifully, and you can people-watch Charlotte Street while having your coffee. The whole place just feels… comfortable, I guess? Like someone’s stylish friend let you crash at their place rather than a typical rental. Small thing, but I loved that they had proper blackout curtains – you know how brutal those summer London mornings can be when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag.
Location-wise, this is where it gets interesting. You’re a three-minute walk from Goodge Street tube, which puts you on the Northern line – honestly one of the most useful lines if you’re doing the typical London tourist circuit. But here’s what most visitors don’t realize: Fitzrovia sits right between the chaos of Oxford Street and the pretentiousness of Marylebone, so you get the best of both without the worst of either. I found myself wandering over to Charlotte Street Hotel’s bar most evenings (it’s practically next door), and the Saturday morning farmers market on Whitfield Street became my regular breakfast spot. The neighborhood gets properly quiet after 10 PM, which is perfect if you’re not looking to party but still want to be in the thick of things during the day. Only minor gripe – parking is absolutely brutal around here, but that’s true for most of central London anyway, and honestly, you won’t need a car.
