The apartment itself is actually spacious, which in London terms means you can open a suitcase without doing yoga poses around the furniture. The double bed’s solid (I’m picky about mattresses), and that sofa bed isn’t one of those torture devices they usually pass off as guest sleeping – it’s actually comfortable enough that you won’t hate whoever gets stuck with it. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re literally a three-minute walk from Hyde Park Corner. The thick Georgian walls do their job, though you’ll catch the occasional red bus rumbling by in the morning, which honestly just adds to the London vibe.

Location-wise, this is where it gets interesting. You’re on the Bayswater edge of things, but the good part – close enough to pop into Hyde Park for morning runs (the Serpentine’s right there), yet you can walk to Paddington in about eight minutes when you need to catch trains or the Heathrow Express. I mean, the Tube’s even closer – Lancaster Gate station is practically around the corner, though honestly, I found myself walking everywhere because you’re positioned perfectly between Notting Hill and Marble Arch. There’s this little Tesco Express about two blocks away that becomes your best friend, and some surprisingly decent Lebanese place tucked away on Sussex Gardens that the locals actually eat at. The 7.1 rating makes sense when you think about it – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any weird surprises. Check-in was straightforward, the WiFi actually works (tested it on video calls), and there’s enough kitchen space to make proper coffee in the morning. Sometimes that’s all you really need in London, especially when you’re paying reasonable money to sleep somewhere this close to everything that matters.
