ibis London Canning Town Overview
First Impressions
Walking into ibis London Canning Town, you immediately get that reliable ibis vibe — clean, modern, and refreshingly straightforward. This three-star hotel doesn’t try to be something it’s not, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well. The lobby feels bright and welcoming, with that signature red accent color that somehow manages to be both energetic and calming at the same time. The design philosophy extends throughout the property, creating an atmosphere that feels both professional and approachable for all types of guests.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Canning Town — it’s one of those areas that’s really come into its own recently. You’re perfectly positioned for both the ExCeL exhibition center (literally a few minutes away) and central London via the Jubilee line. The DLR and Underground connections are actually brilliant from here, and I mean that — you can get to Canary Wharf in about 10 minutes, or Westminster in roughly 20. Plus, there’s parking available, which anyone who’s tried to drive in London will tell you is worth its weight in gold. The neighborhood itself has developed considerably, with new shops and amenities making it an increasingly attractive base for visitors.
The Room Experience
The room itself hits all the right notes for what you’d expect from ibis. It’s compact but cleverly designed — everything has its place, and the bed is genuinely comfortable (guests consistently rave about the sleep quality here, and I can see why). The shower’s got proper pressure, the air conditioning actually works, and there’s decent WiFi throughout. You know what I particularly appreciated? The blackout curtains actually block out light, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many hotels get this wrong. Storage solutions are thoughtfully integrated, making it easy to settle in even for longer stays.
Breakfast & Dining
The buffet breakfast is solid — nothing fancy, but it covers all the bases with both continental and English options. Fresh pastries, decent coffee, and they keep everything well-stocked even during busy periods. There’s also an on-site restaurant that serves straightforward international dishes, though honestly, the area around Silvertown Way has some interesting dining options if you want to venture out a bit. The breakfast service runs smoothly, and staff members are attentive without being intrusive, allowing guests to enjoy their meal at their own pace.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it just… works. The staff are genuinely helpful without being overly formal, the location gives you easy access to both business areas and central London attractions, and everything runs smoothly. Couples particularly seem to love it here — there’s something about the combination of good transport links and that slightly quieter neighborhood feel that works well for a city break. The 8.9 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen; it reflects a hotel that consistently delivers exactly what it promises, which in London’s sometimes unpredictable hospitality scene, is actually quite refreshing. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, this hotel provides reliable comfort and genuine value.
To book a hotel in London during Wimbledon, visitors plan ahead to balance lawn-side matches with Thames sunset walks.
