Motel One London-Tower Hill Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Motel One London-Tower Hill on Minories, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical budget chain hotel. The sleek, modern facade fits right into the City of London‘s business district, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about it. I mean, the name says “motel” but honestly, this three-star property feels way more sophisticated than that suggests — it’s like they’re being modest on purpose.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about staying near Tower Hill — you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, which sounds touristy until you realize how brilliant it is for getting around. The Tower Hill tube station is right there, connecting you to the Circle and District lines, so you can reach Westminster in about ten minutes or hop over to Covent Garden without breaking a sweat. What I really love is that couples seem to get this location (they rate it 9.3, apparently), probably because there’s something quite romantic about those evening walks along the Thames path that runs right behind the hotel.
The Room Experience
The room design follows that signature Motel One aesthetic — think clean lines, warm wood accents, and pops of color that somehow never feel overdone. But you know what really stands out? The beds are genuinely comfortable, and I’m someone who usually struggles with hotel mattresses. There’s this perfect balance of firm support without feeling like you’re sleeping on concrete, which explains why guests keep raving about the sleep quality. The bathrooms are compact but cleverly designed, with rainfall showers that actually have decent water pressure — a small miracle in London, honestly.
Morning Fuel
The continental buffet breakfast setup works well for what it is — nothing fancy, but they’ve got the essentials covered with fresh pastries, decent coffee, and enough variety to fuel your day of sightseeing. The breakfast area gets busy around 8 AM (all those business travelers), so if you’re not an early riser, aim for 9:30 or later. There’s also a trendy restaurant and bar area that transforms throughout the day — grab a quick coffee in the morning, then come back for evening drinks with a surprisingly good cocktail menu.
Why Guests Love It
What really strikes me is how many people come back here — apparently there are more repeat guests than at most other properties, which says something about getting the fundamentals right. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in London, but it delivers exactly what you need: a great location, comfortable sleep, and modern amenities without the inflated prices of nearby hotels. The staff genuinely seem to care about your experience, and there’s reliable parking available if you’re brave enough to drive in central London. For the price point and location, it’s honestly hard to beat — especially if you want to be in the thick of things without paying premium prices.

Lovely hotel, I loved the Reception lounge it was so welcoming! Staff extremely friendly. Room clean and very comfortable, those soft pillows were like sleeping on a cloud!
Excellent location 1 minute walk from Aldgate Station, bus stop directly outside, I waited in the lobby instead of outside in the rain, you see the bus turn into the road and literally just step outside , used the bus more than I have ever done when visiting London. As a solo traveller I felt safe in the location of the hotel. I will definitely be back!Hsin-yu from Taiwan (9/10)

My only issue with the Motel One concept is the lack of fridges in the rooms. Given there is no restaurant on site a fridge would be convenient. Apart from that the hotel was good, great staff, very helpful and attentive. Rooms are basic but all good. Location for me was perfect as I was attending a conference. Plenty of eateries, pubs, restaurants very close by. Also very close to the underground station. Overall good.
