Hampton by Hilton London Waterloo Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hampton by Hilton London Waterloo, you immediately get that “this is exactly what I needed” feeling. It’s one of those three-star hotels that actually gets the basics right — clean, modern, and refreshingly straightforward without trying too hard to be something it’s not. The lobby has that crisp Hampton aesthetic you’d recognize anywhere, but there’s something particularly welcoming about this location that sets it apart from your typical chain hotel experience.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Waterloo Road — you’re genuinely in the thick of things without the chaos of central tourist zones. I mean, you can walk to the London Eye in about ten minutes, but you’re also surrounded by proper London life. The Waterloo Station is practically next door, which honestly makes getting anywhere in London ridiculously easy. What I really appreciate is how couples seem to love this spot (they rate the location 9.1, and I can see why) — there’s something romantic about being able to stroll along the Thames at night and still grab a late dinner in Borough Market without dealing with Leicester Square crowds.
The Room Experience
The room setup is what Hampton does well — everything you need, nothing you don’t. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the shower pressure is actually decent, which you know matters after a long day of walking around London. What surprised me was how quiet it stays despite being on a busy road — the windows do their job. The workspace area is thoughtfully designed too, with enough plugs and decent lighting if you need to catch up on emails or plan your next day’s adventures.
Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
Honestly, the breakfast situation here is pretty impressive for a mid-range hotel. They’ve got the full English sorted, obviously, but also continental options, and — this is where they really shine — proper vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The buffet setup flows well, and if you’re rushing to catch an early train, the breakfast-to-go option is actually practical. I’ve seen too many hotels where “grab and go” means a sad pastry, but they put together something you’d actually want to eat.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work is how it balances being part of a reliable chain with feeling connected to London itself. You’re not stuck in some generic hotel bubble — step outside and you’re immediately part of the city’s rhythm. The staff seems to understand that most guests are here to explore, not lounge around the hotel, so they focus on making your base comfortable and efficient. For the price point and location, it’s one of those stays where you think “yeah, I’d book this again” rather than just “well, that was fine.” The parking situation can be tricky in this area, but honestly, you don’t need a car here anyway — everything’s walkable or a quick tube ride away.
To book hotel in London for festive lights, travelers reserve West End suites glowing above cobbled lanes.

The room was beautiful. The queen side could have been bigger, but lovely would stay again
Portvm from United States (8/10)
The location is very good. It takes around 20-30 minutes to get to major points of attraction by foot. The breakfast is good but don't expect anything spectacular. You will be offered sausages, omlet, decent coffee, yogurt, and some pastries.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very good. In particular everything seemed to be in the exact right place. ( soap dispensers, light controls etc ). The comfortable high back chair was a nice touch. Great breakfast with comfortable spacious eating area and large choice. Also enjoyed the bar which was still available late evening.
