Sonder The Prince, Vauxhall Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Sonder The Prince, Vauxhall on Black Prince Road, you’ll notice it doesn’t scream “hotel” in the traditional sense — and that’s actually part of its charm. This three-star property sits quietly in Lambeth, feeling more like a well-designed apartment building than your typical London accommodation. The entrance is understated, which I honestly prefer to those overly flashy hotel lobbies that try too hard.
The Vauxhall Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot in Vauxhall — you’re genuinely close to everything that matters without paying Zone 1 prices. Vauxhall station is a quick walk away, and from there you can reach Westminster in about 10 minutes or hop on the Victoria line straight into the heart of the city. The area’s got this interesting mix of residential calm and urban energy, especially around the riverside. You know what’s great? You can actually walk to Tate Britain along the Thames path — it’s one of those pleasant London strolls that makes you feel like a local rather than just another tourist.
The Space Itself
The room I stayed in felt more like a studio flat than a hotel room, which makes sense given Sonder’s apartment-style approach. There’s a proper kitchenette with everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the nearby Tesco and save some money on London’s restaurant prices. The design is clean and modern — think Scandinavian minimalism but warmer. I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards, but it’s thoughtfully put together and actually functional, which matters more when you’re staying for several nights.
Practical Considerations
One thing to keep in mind — this isn’t a full-service hotel with a concierge desk and daily housekeeping. You’ll get your access codes digitally, and honestly, the whole check-in process is pretty seamless once you get used to it. The building feels secure, and I never had any issues with the keyless entry system. There’s no on-site restaurant, but given the location, you’re spoiled for choice within walking distance. The Vauxhall food scene has really improved over the past few years — there’s everything from proper gastropubs to decent takeaway options.
Why Guests Love It
The location rating speaks for itself, especially for couples who want to explore London without feeling like they’re staying in a tourist bubble. You get that sense of living in the city rather than just visiting it, which is rare at this price point. The space gives you room to breathe — literally and figuratively — and the parking situation is manageable if you’re driving, though I’d honestly recommend sticking to public transport. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a few days and actually feel comfortable, rather than just counting down the nights until checkout.
Hotels in London span royal parks, riverside wharfs, and Victorian arcades lined with tea salons.

The location was more than perfect, with the underground and bus 10 minutes away on foot. It’s a very cute neighbourhood as well. The bed was comfortable and clean. There’s a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner and everything you need for a comfortable stay. They also give you some earplugs for the noise since it’s located right above a pub. We spent a really good time at this hotel and will definitely think about going back.

Very convenient stay in recently refurbished room. You can easily enter the hotel and room with the same code received prior to arrival.
No unnecessary daily cleaning. I really don't need new towels every day. So it is a good idea provide an excellent clean room on arrival and safe the cost for daily room service which is not needed.Dano37 from United States (8/10)
This place worked out great for me. It was in a good spot. 15 to 20 minute walk to Westminster Bridge area where the London Eye is and where you can see parliament and Big Ben. Not far from multiple rail stations making it easy to get around if you choose to use them. Other places of interest are not far from here as well. It was quiet even on the days I had neighbors. The bed was super comfortable, the shower was great. This location was located over The Jolly Gardeners Pub which was super convenient as a lunch or dinner option or just for drinks

This property is very thoughtfully appointed. I received excellent communication about check-in procedure in advance, the room was very clean and offered a coffee maker and drink options, hair dryer, ironing board and iron, safe for securing valuables. The ledge in the bathroom was helpful for organizing toiletries and jewelry. The fan and sound machine were helpful in cooling the room and quieting the street and pub noise. The water machine in the hall was a nice touch for hydrating at the end of the day and the toiletries closet for replenishing body wash was a nice touch.
