Holiday Inn Express London Victoria, an IHG Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Holiday Inn Express London Victoria, an IHG Hotel on Belgrave Road, you immediately get that feeling of being right in the thick of things without the chaos. This three-star property sits perfectly between the grandeur of Belgravia’s white stucco terraces and the bustling energy of Victoria Station — honestly, it’s one of those spots where you feel like you’ve landed in the sweet spot of London. The building itself has that classic London townhouse vibe, though it’s been smartly modernized inside.
Location That Actually Works
You know what I love about this place? You’re literally a three-minute walk from Victoria Station, which means the Gatwick Express is right there when you need to catch a flight. But here’s the thing — despite being so close to all that transport madness, Belgrave Road itself is surprisingly quiet at night. I mean, couples consistently rate this location 8.9 out of 10, and after staying here, I totally get why. You can walk to Buckingham Palace in about ten minutes, and the shops along Victoria Street are perfect for grabbing those last-minute essentials.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from Holiday Inn Express — clean, functional, and surprisingly comfortable. Nothing fancy, but the bed was actually really good (which matters more than people think), and there’s decent space to spread out your stuff. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, and I appreciated having a proper shower that didn’t require contortionist skills to use. The air conditioning worked well too, which was a relief during my summer visit.
Breakfast Worth Mentioning
Here’s where this place really surprised me — the breakfast setup is genuinely impressive for a three-star hotel. They’ve got the full English option obviously, but also continental choices, vegetarian dishes, and even gluten-free alternatives. The restaurant area gets pretty busy around 8 AM (all those business travelers heading to meetings), so I’d suggest going either earlier or after 9:30 if you prefer a more relaxed pace. The coffee was decent too, which isn’t always a given at chain hotels.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the most Instagram-worthy hotel you’ll ever stay at, but it absolutely nails the fundamentals. The staff genuinely seem to care about getting things right, the location is unbeatable for the price point, and there’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t try to be more than it is. If you’re looking for a reliable base to explore London without breaking the bank, this Holiday Inn Express delivers exactly what it promises. Plus, having Victoria Station so close means you can easily day-trip to Brighton or explore other parts of the city without the usual London transport headaches.
