Melbourne House Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Melbourne House Hotel on Belgrave Road, you immediately get that classic London townhouse vibe — it’s one of those Victorian conversions that feels authentically British without trying too hard. The three-star property sits perfectly in London, and honestly, the location alone makes this place worth considering. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Victoria Station, which is excellent for accessing transport links across the city. The hotel captures that quintessential British charm that makes London so appealing to international visitors. The surrounding area offers numerous dining options, from traditional British pubs serving hearty meals to contemporary cafes perfect for morning coffee. Local shops and boutiques line the nearby streets, providing convenient access to essentials and unique London finds. The neighborhood maintains its residential character while offering easy access to major tourist attractions and business districts throughout the capital.
Location & Neighborhood
Belgrave Road offers a quieter residential feel that’s quite pleasant after a day of sightseeing, despite Victoria’s reputation for being touristy. This particular stretch feels more lived-in and authentic. Buckingham Palace is around the corner, and the Thames is close enough for an easy stroll to see Big Ben and other iconic landmarks. Guests have rated the location highly, recognizing the value of staying in a genuine London neighborhood rather than a sterile hotel district. The area provides excellent connectivity to London’s extensive transport network, making it simple to explore different boroughs and attractions. Westminster Cathedral stands majestically nearby, offering both architectural beauty and peaceful moments away from the bustling city streets.
The Room Experience
The room accommodations are thoughtfully laid out with classic British charm and modern touches that work well together. Beds are comfortable, and windows provide decent natural light — always appreciated in London accommodations. Storage space is better than expected for this type of property, easily accommodating a week’s worth of clothes. The heating system functions reliably, which matters during chilly London evenings, and bathrooms are compact but functional with good water pressure. Each room features carefully selected furnishings that reflect the building’s Victorian heritage while incorporating contemporary amenities. Climate control systems ensure year-round comfort, and soundproofing helps maintain tranquility despite the central location.
Practical Considerations
WiFi works reliably throughout the building, essential for navigating London or staying connected with home. The staff is genuinely helpful, offering proper directions and local recommendations rather than generic responses. The property maintains high standards of cleanliness and comfort despite its intimate size. These practical touches demonstrate attention to guest needs and contribute significantly to the overall experience. Daily housekeeping services ensure rooms remain pristine throughout your stay, while 24-hour reception provides peace of mind for late arrivals or early departures. Luggage storage facilities accommodate flexible check-in and check-out times, particularly valuable for international travelers adjusting to different time zones.
Why Guests Love It
Melbourne House Hotel balances authentic London experience with practical comfort effectively. The 8.3 rating reflects honest hospitality in a genuinely great location at a fair price point. For couples especially, it hits the sweet spot of romantic London atmosphere without premium prices. Staying here means experiencing real London rather than simply visiting it, which resonates strongly with guests seeking genuine cultural immersion during their stay. The combination of historical character and modern convenience creates memorable experiences that guests frequently mention in their reviews. Value for money remains exceptional compared to similar properties in central London, making it an intelligent choice for discerning travelers.
London’s apartments welcome families with playrooms, porter service, and easy rail hops to museums.

Room very small, but this is London and this is the "standard" in these hotels.
No breakfast at the hotel, but the owners are super friendly and where very helpful, provided us with plenty of dining possibilities nearby. Area is great, and road relatively quite.
Comfortable beds and room very clean. Great for one person stayRuby from United States (9/10)
Nice super friendly staff that helped with our luggage up 6 flights of stairs. The location was close to the tube which was great and lots of restaurants around. Our room had a view of the London Eye. Ample space. Comfortable beds although it was two twin that we had to just push together. The bathroom although works, the shower itself was pretty small space. Not a deal breaker. Definitely pretty basic but great for just resting after a long day out.

Elena from Sweden (8/10)
Room #15 has nice city view as last floor!!! Excellent location as metro station is 5 min away and Victoria train station is 12 min away. The room was warm at evenings- nights. The trip was in November it was important for us. Towels are changed every day what is appreciated as it is only one towel per person. There is hairdryer (why is it attached next to desk not in bathroom or next to big mirror?) and tea kettle.
