The Melita Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to The Melita on Charlwood Street, you immediately get that feeling of stumbling onto something good without the tourist crowds. This three-star hotel sits quietly in Victoria, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering — couples especially seem to get it, rating the spot a solid 9.5. The building itself has that classic London charm without trying too hard, you know what I mean?

Location & Getting Around

Here’s the thing about staying in London — location is everything, and The Melita absolutely nails it with a 9.4 location score. You’re basically in the sweet spot between Victoria Station and Pimlico, which means you can walk to Westminster in about fifteen minutes or hop on the tube and be anywhere in central London within half an hour. I actually love this part of Victoria because it feels residential but you’re still ridiculously close to everything that matters — Buckingham Palace, Tate Britain, even the Thames Path for morning walks.

The Room Experience

The rooms at The Melita are what I’d call properly comfortable without any unnecessary fuss. You get clean, well-maintained spaces that feel more like a boutique guesthouse than a typical chain hotel. The room I stayed in had decent storage (always a win when you’re living out of a suitcase), good lighting for actually reading, and windows that open — which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many London hotels seal you in completely. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and the bathrooms are compact but functional.

Daily Life & Amenities

What I appreciate about this place is how it handles the basics really well. The staff actually know the neighborhood and can point you toward the good local spots rather than just handing you a generic tourist map. There’s no fancy restaurant or elaborate amenities, but that keeps the focus on what matters — a solid base for exploring London. The breakfast situation is straightforward and gets you going for the day without any drama. You’ll find everything you need for a pleasant stay without unnecessary frills.

Why Guests Love It

The Melita works because it understands what most London visitors actually need — a comfortable place to sleep in an excellent location at reasonable prices. That 8.3 rating reflects exactly this: it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in London, but it delivers consistently on location, comfort, and value. The fact that couples rate it so highly tells you something about the atmosphere — it’s got that intimate, neighborhood feel that makes London feel less overwhelming and more like a place you could actually live. This hotel proves that you don’t need extravagant features to create a memorable stay.

Reviews of The Melita

I liked the idea of staying in a townhouse instead of a modern but soulless hotel .I visit family in London and am not looking for a dancy hotel, just a safe, clean hotel with good value.

  • Geoffrey from United Kingdom (8/10)

Location excellent. Lots of good places to eat in the area. Handy for central London and the South Bank. The room was as expected. I don’t eat breakfast.

  • Mo from United Kingdom (9/10)

Location near Victoria was ideal – quiet street but still felt safe. Staff were welcoming and entrance had a homely Christmas feel. Room had everything needed for a one night business stay and rate was reasonable.

  • Andy from United Kingdom (8/10)

The staff were brilliant. Very helpful and really friendly. The place was immaculate and was situated quite well for the tube and attractions.

  • Claudia from Spain (8/10)

The hotel si located in a good and safe area, 10 minutes walk from Victoria Station. Staff was nice and attentive. Rooms were comfortable and had everything you may need for a short stay.

  • Alison from United Kingdom (8/10)

Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Explained how the key worked and what time the night porter came on duty. We didn't need it but it was reassuring to know. The room itself was clean and cosy. An abundance of pillows and cushions 😊 The hotel is situated a 10 minute walk from Victoria tube. I will definitely look to rebook when we visit the city next year.

  • Thierry from Luxembourg (8/10)

  • Sarah from Denmark (8/10)

Really friendly staff. Even though the room was small (superior single), it was surprisingly cosy, there was even art work on the walls, which made it even more homey.
New modern shower cabin, safety box, a mini fridge and a blow dryer really helped make the stay more comfortable. Close proximity to Victoria station and transport to the city centre.
And of course, the wonderful touch of complimentary warm mini-pastries and a good cup of nespresso coffee for a good start of the day.
Thank you to the staff for always being friendly and attentive.
