Bedford Hotel Overview

First Impressions

The Bedford Hotel sits right on Southampton Row in London‘s Camden district, and honestly, the location alone makes this three-star property worth considering. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of everything — Russell Square is a two-minute walk, and the British Museum is practically next door. The building itself has that classic London hotel feel, nothing too flashy but solid and welcoming in a way that makes you feel like you’ve found a proper base for exploring the city.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what really struck me about this spot? It’s one of those rare finds where you get the best of both worlds — central enough that you can walk to major attractions, but tucked away from the tourist chaos. Southampton Row is actually a pretty pleasant street to stroll down, and there’s something satisfying about being able to pop back to your room between sightseeing without dealing with complicated tube journeys. The couples who stay here clearly get it (they rate the location 9.3, which honestly makes perfect sense when you experience it yourself).

The Room Experience

Look, this isn’t fancy territory, but the rooms are exactly what you’d want from a well-run London hotel. They’re clean, comfortable, and — here’s the thing that matters — they actually feel like proper hotel rooms, not cramped afterthoughts. The beds are decent, the bathrooms work well, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. Sometimes that’s all you really need when you’re spending most of your time exploring the city anyway.

Breakfast & Practical Matters

The breakfast situation is actually pretty impressive for a three-star place. They do the full spread — continental options if you want something light, proper Full English if you’re planning a big day of walking, and it’s all set up buffet-style so you can take your time. What I really appreciated was having parking available right at the hotel, which is honestly a bit of a miracle in central London. If you’re driving in (though I’m not sure why you would), it’s one less headache to worry about.

Why Guests Love It

There’s something refreshingly straightforward about the Bedford Hotel — it does exactly what it promises without any pretense. You’re paying for a solid, well-located place to sleep in one of the world’s great cities, and that’s exactly what you get. The staff seems to understand that most guests are here to explore London, not lounge around the hotel, so everything is geared toward making your comings and goings as smooth as possible. It’s the kind of place that works particularly well for couples (hence those location ratings) who want to be in the thick of things without breaking the bank on accommodation.

Best hotels in London blend skyline conservatories, afternoon teas, and spa suites scented with English botanicals.

Most important was how kind, welcoming, and efficient every staff member was. Very unusual! I loved the garden view, my quiet room, and breakfast.

Perfect Location, fantastic staff, great value. Lovely breakfast.

  • Ewa from United Kingdom (9/10)

Overall comfortable stay in a good central location.
Main thing I really liked was – wooden key cards instead of plastic and getting rid of plastic bin-bags. Also recycling bins at every floor. That pushed my score from 8 to 9.
Room was small but it was a single, and perfectly comfortable for 1 person. It’s by a main road but there is a soundproofing.
    Lots of options for breakfast
    Nice and helpful staff
