Grand Sapphire Hotel & Banqueting Overview
First Impressions
The Grand Sapphire Hotel & Banqueting sits right on Imperial Way in Croydon, and honestly, it’s one of those places that surprises you from the moment you walk in. This three-star property doesn’t try to be something it’s not — instead, it focuses on getting the basics absolutely right. The lobby has this welcoming, unpretentious feel that immediately puts you at ease, and you can tell the staff genuinely care about making your stay comfortable.
Location & Getting Around
What really works about this spot is how well-connected it is without feeling like you’re stuck in the middle of chaos. Croydon gets a bit of a bad rap sometimes, but honestly, it’s become quite the hub — you’ve got excellent transport links into central London, plus plenty of local shops and eateries within walking distance. The fact that couples consistently rate the location so highly (8.3 out of 10) tells you everything you need to know. There’s free private parking on-site too, which is honestly a godsend if you’re driving — try finding that in most London hotels without paying through the nose.
The Room Experience
The rooms here are what I’d call properly comfortable — nothing flashy, but everything you actually need is there and works well. The beds are decent quality, the bathrooms are clean and modern enough, and there’s proper storage space (you know how some hotels give you about three hangers and call it a day). Each room feels like someone actually thought about how real people use hotel spaces, rather than just trying to cram in as much furniture as possible.
Breakfast & Dining
Now, the breakfast situation here is actually impressive — they’ve got continental options, full English, vegetarian, and even halal choices, all served buffet-style. I mean, that’s quite a range for a three-star place, and the quality is consistently good. The restaurant area gets busy during peak times (especially weekends), but the staff keep things moving smoothly. What I particularly appreciate is that they don’t rush you out — you can actually sit and enjoy your morning coffee without feeling like you’re taking up valuable real estate.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing that really sets this place apart — the repeat guest rate is unusually high, and that tells you everything about how well they treat people. When travelers keep coming back to the same hotel, it’s because they know exactly what they’re getting, and it consistently delivers. The 8.5 overall rating reflects this reliability — guests appreciate that the Grand Sapphire doesn’t overpromise and underdeliver. Instead, it quietly excels at being a solid, dependable base for exploring London or conducting business in the area. You’ll leave feeling like you got genuine value for money, which is honestly refreshing in today’s hospitality market.
Best hotels in London blend skyline conservatories, afternoon teas, and spa suites scented with English botanicals.

I think I won a lottery for this hotel. I got more for my money. A very clean and comfortable room and more so, a complementary breakfast (buffet). The staff are great, kind and helpful. I would book this hotel again.
