Hotel Sergul Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Sergul on Shepherds Bush Road, you’ll notice it’s one of those classic London townhouse conversions that actually gets the balance right. The building has character without feeling stuffy, and honestly, the entrance gives you that immediate sense that someone here cares about the details. It’s a three-star property, but don’t let that fool you — this place punches well above its weight class in terms of comfort and location.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this spot in Hammersmith — you’re genuinely in a proper London neighborhood, not some tourist bubble. The Hammersmith tube station is close enough that you can walk there easily, which means central London is maybe 20 minutes away on the Piccadilly line. But you know what’s even better? You’ve got the Thames path literally around the corner, perfect for morning runs or evening walks. The area has that lived-in London feel with local pubs, proper cafes, and actual Londoners going about their business. Couples seem to particularly love this location — I mean, there’s something romantic about those tree-lined streets and Victorian architecture.
The Room Experience
The rooms here are what I’d call thoughtfully compact — they’ve clearly worked hard to maximize every square foot without making you feel cramped. My room had this nice mix of modern amenities and traditional touches that didn’t feel forced or theme-park-ish. The bed was genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathroom was surprisingly well-appointed for a three-star place. What really impressed me was the attention to lighting — they’ve got proper reading lights and ambient options, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re actually staying there.
Daily Comforts
The breakfast situation is solid without being fancy — fresh ingredients, decent coffee, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying several days. There’s something to be said for a place that does the basics really well rather than trying to be everything to everyone. The staff here actually seem to know what they’re doing, which isn’t always a given in London hotels. They’re helpful without being overly chatty, and they clearly know the neighborhood well enough to give you proper recommendations.
Why Guests Love It
What sets Hotel Sergul apart is this combination of genuine London location and reliable comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or celebrity chef restaurants — you’re getting a well-run place in a neighborhood that feels authentic. The fact that recent guests consistently rate the location so highly tells you something important: this isn’t just about being near tourist attractions, it’s about being in a part of London that actually feels like London. For the price point, especially considering you’re getting proper tube access and a genuinely pleasant area to explore, it’s honestly one of the better value propositions I’ve come across in the city.

We were greeted by our wonderful host Mara, whom kept in touch prior to our arrival. The hotel Sergul is a convenient location to the station. Our room though small, was cosy with beautifully comfortable beds & pillows.
Also we could leave our luggage on our last day as our flight was in the evening .. a bonus for sureCan from Netherlands (9/10)
It's a very cozy hotel. You feel less like staying in a hotel and more like crashing at a friend's extra room in their home.

Emma from South Africa (8/10)
The host was very welcoming and accommodating, even going so far as to carry my very heavy suitcase up 4 flights of stairs. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed, very close to public transport with 2 tube stations a 10 minute walk away. Very vibrant and cool area.

The hotel proprietor, Mara, is very attentive and kind to her guest. I was able to check in early! My room was located towards the back so it was quiet. My bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom clean. You get an assortment of tea bags, instant coffee, chocolate drink mix & cookies on the desk with an electric kettle. If you want a slick modern room with a credit card key, this hotel is not for you! I liked the diverse neighborhood with a Tesco a block away. I enjoyed my three night stay!

We enjoyed a three night stay at the Hotel Sergul. The room was clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities, plus a small fridge.
Mara was a good host and gave helpful travel advice prior to our visit.
The hotel is a short walk from multiple rail and underground stations. It also has plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops located very close by.
I am happy to recommend a stay here.
