London Star Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to the London Star Hotel on Steyne Road, you know what struck me first? It’s not trying to be something it isn’t. This three-star property sits comfortably in Acton, and honestly, that’s part of its charm. The building has that classic London townhouse feel — nothing flashy, but solid and welcoming. I mean, sometimes you just want a place that feels genuine rather than overly polished, and this delivers exactly that. The attention to detail in the décor creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes guests feel at home immediately.

The Acton Advantage

Here’s something most people don’t realize about staying in London — Acton is actually brilliant for getting around. You’re on the Central and Piccadilly lines, which means you can reach Oxford Circus in about 20 minutes without the crazy Zone 1 prices. The neighborhood itself has this lovely residential vibe with proper local pubs and that Turkish bakery down the street (trust me on the börek). It’s where actual Londoners live, not just tourists, so you get a real feel for the city. The location offers excellent value for money combined with authentic local experiences.

The Room Experience

My room was clean and functional — exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star. The bed was comfortable enough, and I actually slept really well despite being right in London. The bathroom was compact but had good water pressure, which honestly matters more than fancy fixtures when you’re exploring the city all day. There’s free WiFi that actually works, and the heating kept things cozy during my winter stay. Nothing revolutionary, but everything you need is there. Each room is thoughtfully designed to maximize comfort and practicality.

Practical Perks

What I appreciated most was how straightforward everything was. The staff genuinely seemed to care about helping guests figure out their London plans — they had proper local knowledge, not just the standard tourist script. Parking is available if you’re driving, though honestly, you won’t need a car from here. The whole area feels safe for walking, even late at night, and there’s a decent selection of places to grab dinner within a few minutes’ walk. The hotel also provides excellent recommendations for nearby attractions and dining options.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to be the most Instagram-worthy hotel you’ll ever stay in, but it gets the fundamentals right. Couples seem to particularly enjoy it here — probably because it offers that authentic London experience without the tourist circus. You’re staying where real people live, the transport links are genuinely excellent, and you’re not paying through the nose for a fancy address. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a city break — a comfortable base that lets London itself be the star of the show. The hotel consistently delivers reliable service and genuine hospitality that keeps guests returning.

Reviews of London Star Hotel

  • Alberto from United States (8/10)

The location is great. It is a few minutes walk from the subway station Acton Town and nearby there are several bus stops. Reaching the city center was very easy. The room was very clean and comfortable and bigger than what we expected. In any way, our experience exceeded our expectations. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. We had forgotten to ask for for a baby bed and they provided it as soon as they could. We will definitely consider going again and we recommend it with no reservations.

Decent location in Acton, between Acton Main Line station for Elizabeth Line and Acton Town for Circle, District and Piccadilly. Our room on the third floor, a double, was nice quality and recently done. Good bed, nice shower room. At the weekend, parking in the area is free and relatively easy.

The room was nice and clean, nothing super luxurious but definitely what you pay for. The size was just enough, we had a nice smart TV and the doors have a security system that let you know if the door isn't correctly closed. We had cleaning on the third morning and we weren't expecting it so we had left the room a bit messy, they changed the bed and folded the clothes that were laying around 🥹 The staff was overall nice, both at the hotel and the restaurant. We found the bed super comfortable too and had multiple pillows to choose from.
