Weald of Kent Golf Course and Hotel Overview
First Impressions
The Weald of Kent Golf Course and Hotel sits along Maidstone Road like it’s been part of the Kent countryside forever — which, honestly, feels about right when you pull up. This three-star property doesn’t try to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly what makes it work. You know what struck me first? The sheer amount of green space around the place. I mean, it’s literally built around an 18-hole golf course, so you’re getting views that most hotels in Maidstone can only dream about.
The Golf Course Setting
Here’s the thing about staying at a golf hotel when you’re not necessarily a golfer — it’s actually pretty brilliant. The course keeps everything quiet and spacious, which means you won’t have traffic noise or that cramped feeling you get at city hotels. Early morning walks around the grounds are genuinely peaceful, and there’s something satisfying about watching the golfers tee off while you’re having your coffee. The restaurant overlooks the course too, so even your meals come with a view that changes throughout the day as the light shifts across the fairways.
Rooms and Comfort
The room I stayed in was straightforward but comfortable — clean lines, decent space, and windows that actually open to let in that Kent countryside air. Nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some places that charge twice as much. The beds are solid, and honestly, after a day exploring the area or playing a round, you’ll sleep well. What I appreciated was the attention to basics — good water pressure, reliable WiFi, and parking right outside that doesn’t cost extra.
Breakfast and Dining
Breakfast here covers all the bases without getting too complicated. They do a proper Full English if that’s your thing, but I was impressed they also handle vegetarian and gluten-free options without making it feel like an afterthought. The continental spread is fresh, and the coffee — well, it’s actually good coffee, not the weak stuff you sometimes get at smaller hotels. The dining room has those golf course views I mentioned, and morning light streaming in makes it feel more special than it probably has any right to.
Why Guests Love It
There’s clearly something working here because people keep coming back — the repeat guest rate is higher than most places, which tells you everything you need to know. Couples seem particularly drawn to it, probably because of that peaceful setting and the fact that you can actually have a conversation without shouting over city noise. The location gets consistently high marks, and after spending time here, I get it. You’re close enough to Maidstone for anything you need, but far enough out to feel like you’ve escaped. It’s that sweet spot where you get countryside calm without being completely isolated — and honestly, that’s harder to find than you’d think.
Locals suggest to book apartments in London around Marylebone for farmers markets, bookshops, and leafy mews.
