Harbour Hotel & Spa Richmond Overview
First Impressions
The Harbour Hotel & Spa Richmond sits right on Richmond Hill, and honestly, the location alone is worth the stay. This four-star property has that classic British charm you’d expect from a hotel overlooking the Thames, but with modern touches that actually work. When you pull up, there’s parking right on-site — which, if you know anything about Richmond, is practically a miracle in itself.
The Location Magic
I mean, couples absolutely love this spot for good reason — they’ve rated the location 9.1, and I get it. You’re literally steps away from Richmond Park (perfect for morning runs or lazy afternoon walks), and the Thames path is right there when you want to escape the city buzz. The hill gives you these sweeping views over the river that change throughout the day — honestly, it’s one of those locations where you’ll find yourself just standing at the window longer than you planned. Richmond’s got that village feel while still being properly connected to central London, which is sort of the best of both worlds.
The Room Experience
The rooms here strike that balance between comfortable and stylish without trying too hard. You know what I appreciate? They’ve actually thought about storage space — there are proper places to put your things, not just a tiny wardrobe that barely fits a weekend bag. The room I stayed in had river glimpses (not all do, so it’s worth asking), and the bed was genuinely comfortable — firm enough that you don’t sink into oblivion but soft enough for a proper night’s sleep.
Breakfast and Dining
The breakfast setup is solid — they do both continental and full English options, and the full English is actually worth getting. I’m usually a grab-coffee-and-go person, but their version reminded me why a proper breakfast matters when you’re traveling. The restaurant has this relaxed atmosphere where you can linger over coffee while watching the river traffic, which becomes oddly mesmerizing. Service moves at a nice pace — not rushed, but they’re not leaving you waiting around either.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something about this place that brings people back — they’ve got more repeat guests than most hotels, which tells you something. Maybe it’s the spa (perfect after a long day exploring London), or maybe it’s just that Richmond itself gets under your skin. The staff seem to genuinely know the area — they’ll point you toward the better pubs or suggest the quieter walking routes through the park. It’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in London, but it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re staying somewhere: comfort, location, and that feeling that you’ve found a proper base for exploring rather than just a place to sleep.
