60 Hyde Park Gate Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to 60 Hyde Park Gate Hotel feels like stepping into one of those classic London postcards — you know, the ones with the pristine white Victorian townhouses that make you wonder who actually gets to live in places like this. Well, turns out you can stay here, and honestly, it’s every bit as elegant as you’d expect from a five-star property in Kensington. The building itself is this gorgeous 19th-century mansion that’s been transformed into something quite special, though they’ve managed to keep all that period charm intact.

The Neighborhood Magic

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally across from Hyde Park, which means morning runs or evening strolls are right there waiting for you. But it’s not just about the park access (though that’s pretty fantastic). You’re in South Kensington, which honestly feels like the most civilized part of London. The Natural History Museum is a ten-minute walk, the V&A is even closer, and if you’re into shopping, Harrods and the boutiques along Brompton Road are practically next door. I mean, you could spend days just wandering this neighborhood and never run out of things to discover.

Inside the Luxury

The rooms here are what you’d call properly luxurious — not flashy or over-the-top, but refined in that distinctly British way. Each one feels more like a well-appointed private residence than a hotel room, with period features like high ceilings and original moldings mixed with modern comforts that actually work. The bathrooms are particularly impressive, with marble finishes and those deep soaking tubs that make you want to extend your stay just for another long bath. What really struck me was the attention to detail — from the quality linens to the way they’ve positioned everything to take advantage of the natural light.

Dining and Daily Rhythms

The hotel’s restaurant serves up modern European cuisine that’s actually worth staying in for, which isn’t something I say lightly about hotel dining. Breakfast is served in this lovely conservatory-style space that feels like you’re dining in someone’s elegant garden room — very civilized, very London. The service throughout is what you’d expect from a property of this caliber, attentive without being intrusive. There’s also a cozy bar area that’s perfect for evening drinks, especially if you want to people-watch the well-heeled Kensington crowd.

Why Guests Love It

Look, couples absolutely adore this place, and I can see why — there’s something inherently romantic about staying in a beautiful Victorian mansion overlooking one of London’s most famous parks. The location really is unbeatable if you want to feel like you’re living in London rather than just visiting it. You can walk to most major attractions, the Tube connections are excellent (South Kensington station is right there), and yet the hotel itself feels like a peaceful retreat from the city’s hustle. It’s that rare combination of being in the thick of things while still feeling exclusive and serene.

The luxury concierge service in London secures Royal Opera boxes, countryside heli-tastings, and after-hours museum soirees.

The rooms were excellently maintained, friendly staff and every option that best suits your needs available. Special Thank you to Laura for upgrading our room for my wife’s birthday celebration. Also Marco for his consistency every morning in ensuring the best dining experience.

Great location – short walk to the Royal Albert Hall. Breakfast was included in the room rate which was a bonus. Stylish hotel, if a little stark but the bed was comfortable. The room was quiet. Staff were polite. Room wasn't ready when we arrived (we were early so didn't expect it to be) but they phoned us when it was ready, which was earlier than the listed check-in time.

  • Sharen from United Kingdom (9/10)

Excellent location, clean rooms and great facilities. Some of the public areas in the hotel were becoming tired. But did not detract from our stay. Loved the turn down service. The staff were all amazing theoughout the hotel and I would like to send particular thanks to Fedros and Marcus in the bar who were second to none in their level of service. Food was good, the room was clean, and stylish (although not the one we booked our view of the courtyard was actually a view of a brick wall). We had such a good time that I tried to book again for next summer, and I was shocked to find that the day after we left the hotel is showing as permanently closed. A huge loss to tourists.

This is my second stay in the Baglioni hotel. I like the location directly facing Kensington Garden. The breakfast is so good and more importantly the friendly and helpful staff of the hotel. Thank you to Elena at the reception and the hotel manager for understanding and for the complimentary upgrade to a nice and spacious suite

Since our arrival, everything was going smothly. We got un upgraded room and early check in (much needed after a 11hr and 30min flight)! The room was very spacious (bed excellent) with a walking closet and a large and very confortable bathroom. Breakfast buffet was very good (including pastries, salmon and 3 types of cheeses; several choices of eggs, coffe/ chocolate à lacarte) with a very gentle staff. Well located in front of Hyde Park and Kesington Gardens with restaurants, Wholefoods market, stores and subway in a short walking distance (10/15min máx). Bus stop almost in front of the hotel. It was a very, very nice experience, a good one to remember and make me come back, for sure!
