Royal Garden Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to the Royal Garden Hotel on Kensington High Street, you immediately get that “this is proper London” feeling. The building has this elegant Victorian facade that somehow manages to look both grand and welcoming — not stuffy like some of the older hotels around here. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Kensington, with Hyde Park practically at your doorstep and all those gorgeous garden squares that make this area so special. The doormen actually remember your name after the first day, which honestly surprised me.

The Location Magic

Here’s what I love about staying here — you can walk to Kensington Palace in about five minutes, and the Royal Albert Hall is just a pleasant stroll through the park. The High Street Kensington tube station is right there, so getting anywhere in the city is dead easy. What really makes this spot brilliant though is that you’re away from the tourist chaos of central London, but still close enough to everything that matters. Couples seem to absolutely love it here (and I can see why), plus there’s something quite romantic about having Hyde Park as your backyard.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in faced the park, and honestly, waking up to that view never got old. The beds here are genuinely some of the most comfortable I’ve encountered — you know how hotels sometimes oversell their bedding? Well, this isn’t one of those cases. Everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than just expensive for the sake of it. The bathrooms are spacious with proper luxury touches, and there’s actually enough storage space for a longer stay, which you don’t always get even at five-star places.

Dining and Practical Bits

The breakfast situation is actually quite impressive — they’ve got everything from a proper Full English to vegan options, and the continental spread is extensive without being overwhelming. The main restaurant does solid modern British cuisine, though I’ll be honest, with Kensington’s dining scene right outside, you might find yourself exploring more often than not. One thing that’s genuinely useful is the parking — having your own spot in this part of London is worth its weight in gold, especially if you’re planning day trips outside the city.

Why Guests Love It

What strikes me most is how many people come back here — there’s definitely something to be said for a place that earns that kind of loyalty. The staff seem to genuinely care about getting the details right, from remembering your coffee preferences to arranging theatre tickets. It’s that balance of luxury service without the pretension that makes this place work so well. You’re paying for quality and location, sure, but you’re also getting that rare thing in London hospitality — a hotel that feels like it actually wants you to have a great time rather than just checking boxes.

The concierge service in London arranges private palace salons, bespoke Savile Row fittings, and river yachts at twilight.

Reviews of Royal Garden Hotel

  • May from Brunei Darussalam (9/10)

We are a family of 5 travelling to London for our daughter's graduation.
    1. Early check in and Free Upgrade. We arrived early at around 11.30am and was expecting to be checked in at 3pm (as stated) but to our surprise, our room was ready to be checked in and what was even more surprising was that we got upgraded to a suite with a huge and gorgeous living and dining room and a view of the Hyde Park and London skyline. The room was really huge for a London standard. Yeay and Thank You!
    2. Location. High Street Kensington has great shoppings and dinings, with less crowd compared to Oxford Street. The hotel is right on the main street with a bus stop in front, that could take you beyond HSK within minutes. The tube station is about 5-6 minutes walk.
    3. Great house keeping service. The staffs were all curteous and very efficient. We called to ask for something. They came within minutes. In fact, everyone, from the reception to the bellboys were helpful.
    4. Amenities. Unlike some big chain hotels that provide nothing in their bathroom (on the pretext of being environmentally- friendly), the bathroom and kitchen of this hotel are fully stocked with supplies that you could possibly need. Their Penhaligon's shower and shampoo are the good quality ones, which nowadays are quite rare to be found in hotels.. (Some hotels have big brand names for their bath supplies but lower quality). The kitchen has different types of tea, coffees and even Cadbury hot chocolates. And a microwave.
    5. Unfortunately, we didnt try the dining as the halal option is quite limited but the street has many halal dining options, all within walking distance of no more than 10 minutes.

Thank you Royal Garden Hotel! We will definitely stay here again and again.
Highly recommended to all types of travellers including family with small children.
