Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about this AV Stays apartment? The moment you step inside, it actually feels like someone’s well-designed home rather than another sterile serviced accommodation. Located right on Saint George Wharf, you’re essentially living on the Thames – and I mean literally, the river views from the windows are proper London postcard material. The two bedrooms are spacious enough that you won’t feel like you’re tripping over your travel companion’s stuff, which honestly is half the battle with London accommodations. The kitchen is fully kitted out (and I mean actually functional, not just for show), so you can avoid those £15 hotel breakfast situations if you want.
The location is sort of brilliant in that sneaky way where you’re not right in the chaos of central London, but you’re incredibly well connected. Vauxhall station is literally a five-minute walk – maybe less if you’re not dragging luggage – and from there you can get to Victoria in about three minutes or hop on the Northern line. I’ve stayed in places that claim to be “near transport” and then you’re schleping fifteen minutes with your bags, but this genuinely isn’t one of those situations. The area around Saint George Wharf has really come up in recent years too – there’s a decent Sainsbury’s nearby for groceries, and if you walk toward Vauxhall Bridge, you’ll find some surprisingly good coffee spots that aren’t tourist traps.
Look, it’s got a 7.5 rating and honestly that feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches, but everything works properly and the space is clean and comfortable. The building itself is modern, so you won’t be dealing with dodgy plumbing or heating issues that plague some of London’s older conversions. One thing worth mentioning is that being on the wharf, you do get some ambient city noise, but it’s more the gentle hum of London life rather than proper traffic chaos. Actually, I found it quite soothing – you can hear the occasional boat on the Thames, which beats the usual London soundtrack of sirens and buses. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that awkward hanging around waiting for someone to show up with keys. For families or friends traveling together who want proper space and the flexibility to cook your own meals while still being properly connected to everything London has to offer, this place hits that sweet spot between hotel convenience and apartment practicality.
