Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Belgravia Residence? It’s tucked right on Elizabeth Street in this perfectly posh corner of Westminster, but it doesn’t feel stuffy at all. I mean, you’re literally steps from Victoria Station – and I’m talking like a three-minute walk, not that “conveniently located” nonsense hotels always claim. The building itself has that classic London townhouse vibe, white stucco facade and all, though honestly the entrance is a bit more understated than some of the grander places nearby.
The thing about staying here is you’re genuinely in the thick of Belgravia without paying those eye-watering Knightsbridge prices. Elizabeth Street is actually one of those lovely little shopping streets that locals use – there’s this fantastic cheesemonger called La Fromagerie literally around the corner, and you’ll find yourself wandering past the same dog walkers every morning (Belgravia has seriously well-dressed dogs, by the way). The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star – nothing groundbreaking, but they’ve got that comfortable, lived-in quality that makes you feel like you’re staying in someone’s well-appointed London flat rather than a cookie-cutter hotel room. The bathrooms are actually quite generous by London standards, though the shower pressure can be a bit temperamental – seems to depend on what floor you’re on.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re so central. The double-glazing does its job well, and Belgravia sort of shuts down after dinner anyway – it’s that kind of residential neighborhood where the most exciting evening activity is walking your spaniel. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that hovering-over-your-shoulder service that makes you feel like you’re being managed. The staff genuinely seem to know the area – they pointed me toward some brilliant pub tucked away on a mews that I never would have found otherwise. Look, with a 7.1 rating, you know it’s not going to blow your mind, but sometimes you just want a proper, comfortable base in an excellent location without any fuss. The Belgravia Residence delivers exactly that – it’s the kind of place where you’ll sleep well, enjoy your morning coffee while people-watching on Elizabeth Street, and feel like you’ve got a proper London address for a few days.
