Best Western Kensington Olympia Hotel Overview

First Impressions

The Best Western Kensington Olympia Hotel sits on a quiet residential street in West London, and honestly, that’s part of its charm. You know what I mean — sometimes you want to be right in the thick of things, but other times you just want a peaceful base where you can actually get some sleep. This three-star property gets that balance right, tucked away on Matheson Road but still close enough to everything that matters. The hotel has earned a solid reputation among travelers seeking authentic London experiences without the premium price tag.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s the thing about this spot — couples absolutely love it here, and I can see why. You’re a quick walk to Olympia Exhibition Centre, which is great if you’re in town for an event, but more importantly, you’re perfectly positioned between Kensington and Hammersmith. The tube connections are actually really solid from here. I mean, you can get to central London without all the tourist crowds right outside your door, and that’s worth something when you’re trying to navigate the city. The neighborhood offers genuine local character with easy access to major attractions.

The Room Experience

The rooms are what you’d expect from a well-run Best Western — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out. Nothing fancy, but everything works. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the room sizes are decent by London standards. You’ll find all the basics you need, plus little touches that show someone’s paying attention to guest comfort. The bathrooms are compact but functional, and the Wi-Fi actually works properly throughout the building. Each space reflects practical design focused on guest satisfaction.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast setup here is surprisingly good for a three-star hotel. They do a proper continental spread with a buffet option, plus — and this is clever — they offer breakfast to go if you’re rushing off to catch a flight or meeting. The restaurant area has a relaxed vibe, and the staff genuinely seem to care about getting your day started right. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s solid and filling, which is what you want before a day of exploring London. The dining experience reflects the hotel’s commitment to practical hospitality.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t a flashy hotel, and that’s exactly why it works so well. The staff are friendly without being overly formal, the location gives you that local London feel while keeping you connected to the main attractions, and the whole place just runs smoothly. Couples especially seem to appreciate the quieter neighborhood vibe — you can walk to a proper pub for dinner, grab groceries at the local shops, and feel like you’re living in London rather than just visiting it. For the price point and the genuine warmth of the service, it’s the kind of place you’d actually want to return to. The hotel consistently delivers reliable comfort and authentic hospitality.

Hotels in London span royal parks, riverside wharfs, and Victorian arcades lined with tea salons.

Very nice hotel, small room, but perfectly fine for a solo work traveler, super clean. Staff both at the reception and after during invoice request by email was very helpful and friendly. Definitely will consider staying in again.

The room, although more on the smallish size, was perfectly clean and had everything we needed. In fact I can't remember the last time I was in a hotel this clean. It smelt beautiful and everything was immaculate – we were told the hotel is brand new so this probably helped; hopefully they'll be able to keep it this nice.

The mattress was SO comfortable. The booking.com page suggested the only thing available in the room would be toilet paper, but there was everything we needed: towels, toiletries, hair dryer, good size mirrors, TV, kettle, tea and coffee (we didn't need these but for for the same of completeness: there was no iron and no little biscuits though:)).

The location of the hotel was perfect for Olympia, very easy walking distance, and really quiet as it's on a side street, so we had an excellent sleep both nights we were there.

Due to rushing to an event, we ended up not having breakfast at the hotel so I can't comment on the food, but the restaurant area looked very lovely and inviting.

The staff were utterly charming and polite, especially the gentleman who checked us in the evening of the 15th Nov (whose name we didn't ask for 🙁 apologies), and Vivek who checked us out very early on the morning of 17th Nov.
