Bingham Riverhouse Overview

First Impressions

The Bingham Riverhouse sits right on the Thames in Richmond, and honestly, the location alone makes this three-star boutique hotel worth considering. I mean, you’re literally steps from the river — I could hear the gentle lapping of water from my window, which was unexpectedly soothing. The building itself has this charming Georgian facade that feels authentically English without being stuffy about it.

Location & Neighborhood

Richmond is one of those London neighborhoods that actually feels like a proper town, and the Bingham sits perfectly positioned to take advantage of that. You’re a two-minute walk from Richmond Bridge, and the famous Richmond Park (where you’ll spot deer wandering around like they own the place) is just up the hill. The high street is close enough for shopping and dining, but far enough that you’re not dealing with crowds. What I really appreciated was how easy it was to get into central London — the District line runs straight through, though honestly, you might not want to leave this peaceful riverside spot.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in overlooked the Thames, and I have to say, those beds really are as comfortable as everyone claims. The decor strikes a nice balance between traditional and contemporary — think elegant fabrics and quality furniture without feeling like you’re staying in a museum. The bathrooms are well-appointed (though not huge), and there’s actually decent storage space, which you don’t always get in boutique properties. What surprised me was how quiet everything was, considering you’re right on a main road.

Dining & Amenities

The restaurant downstairs serves solid modern British cuisine, and their riverside terrace is genuinely lovely when the weather cooperates. Breakfast was better than I expected for a three-star — they’ve got the full English sorted, plus continental options and proper coffee. I noticed they cater well to dietary requirements too, with clearly marked vegan and gluten-free choices. The parking situation is handled on-site, which is honestly a relief in this part of London where street parking can be a nightmare.

Why Guests Love It

You know what really works about the Bingham? It feels like a proper escape without actually leaving London. Couples especially seem to get this — there’s something romantic about watching the river flow by while you’re having dinner or just sitting with a drink. The staff genuinely seem to care about making your stay pleasant rather than just going through the motions. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — just a well-run, comfortable hotel in one of London’s most appealing neighborhoods. The combination of that riverside setting, genuinely comfortable accommodations, and Richmond’s village-like charm creates something special that’s hard to find elsewhere in the city.

  • Harriet from United Kingdom (9/10)

It is a beautiful building and location and was especially lovely because it was decorated for Christmas when we visited (13 December). We actually didn’t use the bar or restaurant but they both looked amazing. Such a gorgeous atmosphere too. The staff were so smiley and helpful and Troy in particular was amazing.

A comfortable up market restaurant with rooms which were well appointed with a number of thoughtful extras. Hot breakfast items were all freshly cooked and served promptly. The quality of the Rugby lunch we attended before England v Australia was excellent.
