First Impressions

You know what caught me off guard about Brandshatch Place & Spa? It’s this gorgeous Georgian manor house that sits right next to the famous Brands Hatch racing circuit — honestly, I wasn’t expecting such elegance so close to all that motorsport action. The moment you pull up the tree-lined drive, you’re transported into this peaceful countryside setting that feels miles away from the roar of engines, even though you’re actually just 30 minutes from central London. This four-star property has this wonderful old-world charm mixed with modern touches that really works.

Location & Setting

The location is pretty brilliant, especially if you’re a couple looking for something special — and I can see why couples rate this place so highly. You’re nestled in the Kent countryside near Dartford, which means you get that peaceful rural vibe but you’re still incredibly well-connected. I mean, you can be at Bluewater shopping center in about 10 minutes, or catch a train into London from nearby Swanley station. The grounds are beautiful too — there’s this lovely garden area where you can actually hear the birds instead of traffic, which is pretty rare these days.

The Rooms

My room had this lovely mix of period features and modern comfort that really impressed me. The ceilings were high with original moldings, but the bathroom was completely updated with a proper rainfall shower. What I loved was how quiet everything was — the windows are well-insulated, so even when there’s racing at Brands Hatch, you barely notice unless you’re actively listening for it. The beds are genuinely comfortable too, not just hotel-marketing comfortable, and there’s plenty of space to spread out your things.

Spa & Dining

The spa is where this place really shines, honestly. It’s not huge, but it’s perfectly formed with a decent-sized pool, steam room, and treatment rooms that feel properly relaxing. I had a massage there and the therapist actually knew what she was doing — sometimes you wonder, but not here. The restaurant serves solid modern British food with a focus on local ingredients, and while it’s not going to win any Michelin stars, it’s definitely good enough that you won’t need to venture out for dinner unless you want to.

Why Guests Love It

There’s something really special about staying somewhere that feels like a proper country retreat but doesn’t require a three-hour drive to reach. The staff genuinely seem to care about making your stay pleasant — they remember your name, ask how your day was, that sort of thing. Plus, there’s ample parking right on-site, which might sound boring but trust me, when you’re this close to London and don’t have to worry about where to leave your car, it’s actually a huge relief.   room was good, clean and spacious, breakfast was excellent, had a meal and afternoon tea in the restaurant, food and service were very good. bar was fine and the cocktails were very good. EV charging on site was a relief and even better it was working ( unlike a lot of hotel changepoints. So I didn't have to go searching for a changepoint before setting off back home.
