Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first walked up to 62 Gloucester Place, I wasn’t expecting much – just another London apartment rental, you know? But this ground floor spot actually surprised me in the best way. The location is absolutely brilliant if you want to feel like a proper Londoner without the tourist trap chaos. Gloucester Place runs parallel to Baker Street (yeah, the Sherlock Holmes one), and you’re literally a three-minute walk from Baker Street tube station. I mean, you can pop down to Oxford Street for shopping or catch the Metropolitan line straight out to the countryside – it’s ridiculously well connected.
What really gets me about this place is how quiet it manages to be despite being in Zone 1. The street has this lovely residential feel with those classic white Georgian terraces, but you’re still within walking distance of Regent’s Park – and I’m talking about the proper entrance near the boating lake, not the touristy bit. The apartment itself feels surprisingly spacious for central London (which, let’s be honest, usually means shoebox-sized), and being on the ground floor means you won’t be lugging suitcases up narrow Victorian stairs. The furnishing is actually thoughtful – not that generic IKEA setup you get in most short-term rentals. There’s proper lighting for reading, decent kitchen equipment if you fancy cooking instead of eating out every meal, and the heating works well, which trust me, matters more than you think in London.
The neighborhood vibe is spot-on too. You’ve got that brilliant little Marks & Spencer Simply Food just around the corner on Baker Street for grabbing essentials, plus some genuinely good pubs within a few minutes’ walk – The Globe on Baker Street does a proper Sunday roast if you’re around on weekends. And here’s something most visitors don’t realize: you’re actually closer to Marylebone High Street than Oxford Street, which means better shops, less crowds, and way more character. The 9.4 rating makes total sense when you experience the whole package – it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just really, really good at being exactly what you need for exploring London properly.
