Chessington Hotel Overview
First Impressions
The Chessington Hotel sits right on Leatherhead Road, and honestly, the location is what grabbed me first — you’re practically next door to Chessington World of Adventures, which means you can hear the distant sounds of the theme park during the day. It’s a four-star property that feels more intimate than those massive chain hotels, and I noticed right away how many families were checking in for return visits. The staff mentioned they get tons of repeat guests, which always tells you something good about a place. This dedication to hospitality creates an atmosphere that welcomes everyone warmly.
The Location Advantage
What’s brilliant about staying here is that Chessington itself is this perfect middle ground — you’re close enough to London (about 30 minutes by train) but far enough out to feel like you’re actually escaping the city chaos. The hotel provides parking for free, which is honestly a godsend if you’re driving down from anywhere north or coming in from Heathrow. I mean, couples seem to absolutely love the area — the feedback I heard was consistently positive, especially for romantic getaways where you want easy access to both countryside walks and London attractions. The surrounding neighborhoods offer excellent dining and shopping options.
Rooms and Comfort
The room I stayed in was well-appointed without being flashy — think comfortable beds, decent-sized windows, and that kind of understated British hotel elegance that doesn’t try too hard. You know what I appreciated? The soundproofing is actually pretty good, considering you’re so close to a theme park. The bathrooms are modern enough, and there’s proper space to spread out your stuff, which matters when you’re staying more than just one night. Each detail has been thoughtfully considered for guest satisfaction.
Breakfast and Dining
The buffet breakfast is where this place really shines — it’s one of those spreads that covers all the bases without being overwhelming. Fresh fruit, proper cooked English breakfast items, cereals, pastries… they clearly put thought into it. I watched families fuel up before heading to the theme park, and business travelers grab quick continental options before catching trains to London. The restaurant area has this relaxed atmosphere where you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling rushed. The culinary team demonstrates genuine care in their preparation.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something to be said for a hotel that people keep coming back to — and after staying here, I get it. The combination of genuinely helpful staff, solid amenities, and that sweet spot location makes it work for so many different types of trips. Whether you’re using it as a base for London exploration, a family adventure at the theme park, or just a quiet retreat in Surrey, the Chessington Hotel delivers without any pretense. It’s the kind of place that does the basics really well, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need. Guests consistently praise the value and experience.
To book hotel in London for festive lights, travelers reserve West End suites glowing above cobbled lanes.

Kooky hotel. Sharing the breakfast buffet with piranhas was an unexpected delight… As were the Oreos on the pillow in the room.
Friendly and helpful staff, comfy beds, unexpectedly pleasant theme music.
