Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Cheval Three Quays? It’s this perfectly positioned apartment-style hotel that sits right where the Thames curves past the Tower of London, and honestly, I’ve never seen views quite like this from a London accommodation. When you’re standing in one of their riverside apartments – because these are proper apartments, not just hotel rooms – you can literally watch the Tower Bridge open and close while you’re having your morning coffee. I mean, tourists pay £30 just to walk across that bridge, and you’re watching the whole show from your living room.
The location is absolutely mad in the best way possible. You’re on Lower Thames Street, which sounds busy (and it can be during rush hour), but actually the apartments are set back enough that you don’t get the constant traffic noise you’d expect. What you do get is this incredible access to everything – Tower Bridge is a two-minute walk, Borough Market is just across the river, and here’s something most people don’t realize: you’re walking distance to some of the best pubs in the City that are completely dead on weekends because all the finance crowd disappears. The George & Vulture, which dates back to the 1600s, is literally around the corner. The building itself feels like luxury without being stuffy – I’d describe it as “investment banker meets boutique hotel,” if that makes sense. The apartments are genuinely spacious (rare for London), with full kitchens that you’ll actually want to use, especially if you grab ingredients from Borough Market. The service feels more like having a really good concierge than typical hotel staff – they know the area inside and out, which matters when you’re in this part of London because it’s not exactly Covent Garden with tourist signs everywhere.
What really sets this place apart though is how it works for different types of stays. Business travelers love it because you can walk to the financial district, but honestly, it’s brilliant for longer visits because you’ve got that kitchen and separate living space. The 9.4 rating makes total sense when you experience it – everything just works smoothly, from check-in to the apartment setup to the little touches like proper coffee machines and decent Wi-Fi throughout. One thing to know: this area transforms completely between weekdays and weekends. Weekdays it’s buzzing with City workers, weekends it’s much quieter and you feel like you have this historic part of London mostly to yourself. Oh, and if you’re driving, forget about it – parking around here is nightmare fuel, but the Tube connections are excellent (Tower Hill and London Bridge stations are both close), and you’ll probably walk everywhere anyway because the location is just that good.
