Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to this place on Weymouth Street, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside. It’s one of those classic Georgian buildings that blend right into the streetscape, but that’s actually part of what makes it perfect. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Oxford Circus, but somehow you’ve landed on this quiet residential street where the only sounds are the occasional footsteps and maybe a delivery truck in the morning.
The apartment itself is what Instagram dreams are made of, but in a way that feels lived-in rather than staged. The bedroom gets this gorgeous morning light – I mean, as gorgeous as London light gets – and the living area is actually spacious enough to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re camping. What really got me was the kitchen situation. Most London rentals give you a glorified closet with a kettle, but this one has an actual full-size fridge and proper counter space. I ended up cooking way more than I planned because, well, you can actually move around in there. The bathroom’s compact (this is London, after all) but cleverly designed with one of those rainfall showers that makes you forget you’re in a basement-level flat.
Here’s what nobody tells you about this location though – you’re positioned perfectly between two different London experiences. Walk south toward Oxford Street and you’re in full tourist chaos within minutes, which is great when you want to hit Selfridges or catch a show. But walk north toward Regent’s Park and suddenly you’re in proper residential London, passing locals walking their dogs and grabbing coffee from places that don’t have lines around the block. There’s this little Tesco Express literally around the corner on Great Portland Street that became my daily stop, and honestly, having a proper grocery run option makes such a difference when you’re staying more than a few days. The Tube situation is pretty much perfect – Great Portland Street station is a three-minute walk, but if that line’s having issues (which, you know, happens), you can easily walk to Oxford Circus or Regent’s Park stations. I actually ended up walking to a lot of places because the location just makes everything feel accessible.
The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be some fancy hotel experience – there’s no concierge or room service or any of that. But what it does, it does really well. The WiFi actually works (tested it on multiple video calls), the heating keeps up with London’s moody weather, and everything feels clean and well-maintained without being sterile. I’d definitely book this again, especially if I was planning to spend time both in central London and wanted a base that felt more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel. Just don’t expect a lot of natural light if you’re someone who needs that – it’s London, and it’s a ground floor flat, so manage your expectations accordingly.
