Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place? The building itself – those classic Aldwych Buildings have this gorgeous brick facade that’s been standing here since way before Covent Garden became the tourist magnet it is today. I mean, you’re literally tucked away on Parker Mews, which honestly most people walk right past without noticing, but that’s actually perfect because you get all the benefits of being in the heart of everything without the constant street noise.
The flat itself is one of those spaces that just works, you know? It’s got that effortless London chic thing going on – exposed brick in spots, tall windows that let in surprising amounts of light (rare for central London, trust me), and whoever designed this knew how to make a one-bedroom feel way bigger than it should. The kitchen’s actually functional too, not just pretty – I’m talking proper counter space and appliances that aren’t miniature. The bedroom’s at the back, so even though you’re basically walking distance from Leicester Square and all that chaos, it stays pretty quiet at night. Well, except for the occasional delivery truck early morning, but honestly, that’s just London life.
What I love about this spot is how it sits right between worlds. You’ve got Covent Garden’s markets and street performers literally five minutes away, but walk ten minutes in the other direction and you’re hitting those proper local pubs around Holborn that tourists never find. The Russell Square tube is closer than you’d think – about an eight-minute walk – which gives you the Piccadilly line straight to Heathrow or King’s Cross. And here’s something nobody mentions in these descriptions: there’s a brilliant little coffee shop on Theobald’s Road that opens at 6:30am, perfect for those jet-lag mornings when you’re up before the rest of the city. The building’s got decent security too, which matters when you’re staying somewhere this central. Check-in was smooth (they actually met me at the flat, not some random office across town), and the whole setup just felt… reliable, I guess? Like someone actually thought about what travelers need instead of just throwing together another Airbnb. Sure, it’s pricier than staying out in Zone 3, but honestly, the time and tube fare you save makes up for it pretty quickly.
