But that’s sort of the magic of this place, actually. It sits in this perfect pocket of Knightsbridge where you get all the prestige without the tourist chaos that overwhelms Brompton Road.

The apartments themselves feel more like staying in a well-appointed friend’s London flat than a typical hotel – I mean, you’ve got proper kitchens with full-size fridges (which honestly saved me a fortune on breakfast), spacious living areas where you can actually spread out, and bedrooms that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The furnishings lean traditional without being stuffy, though I’ll admit some of the carpeting shows its age a bit. What really got me was the attention to detail – thick towels that actually dry you off, blackout curtains that work (crucial if you’re jet-lagged), and those little touches like having proper wine glasses instead of plastic cups. The staff genuinely seems to care too, which you notice in small ways like remembering your name and actually following through when they say they’ll look into something.

Location-wise, you know what’s brilliant? You’re tucked away on this tree-lined residential street, so mornings are pleasantly quiet – no delivery trucks rumbling past at 6 AM like you get on the main drags. But then Sloane Street shopping is right there, and you can cut through to Hyde Park Corner tube station in about eight minutes if you walk briskly. I found myself popping over to Whole Foods on Piccadilly constantly (just a quick stroll down Sloane Street), and having easy access to both the Piccadilly and District lines meant getting around London was actually painless. The Michelin-starred spots in this area are obviously pricey, but there’s a decent Pret just around the corner for when you want something quick, and the little Italian place on Beaufort Street – Daphne’s – does excellent weekend brunches if you’re feeling indulgent. One thing though: parking here is absolutely brutal, so if you’re driving, factor in some serious daily charges or just skip the car entirely. With an 8.4 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after staying here twice now, I get why people keep coming back. It’s that rare London find where you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it.
