Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch on Old Street, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical five-star hotel experience. The building itself has this gorgeous Art Deco facade that honestly makes you stop and stare — it’s actually a converted courthouse from the 1920s, which explains the name and gives the whole place this incredible sense of history. You know what really struck me? The way they’ve managed to keep that grand, imposing courthouse architecture while making it feel welcoming rather than intimidating. The attention to detail in preserving original elements is truly remarkable.

The Shoreditch Advantage

The location in London is absolutely spot-on if you want to be in the thick of things. Shoreditch has this amazing energy — you’re literally surrounded by street art, independent coffee shops, and some of the city’s best nightlife. Old Street tube station is just a few minutes’ walk, which means you can get to the City or West End without any hassle. I mean, couples seem to really get this location (they rate it 8.5 apparently), and I can see why — there’s something romantic about wandering these creative streets together, especially in the evening when all the bars and galleries come alive.

Luxury Meets Character

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve transformed those old courtrooms into something genuinely luxurious. The room I stayed in had these incredible high ceilings and original features, but with all the modern touches you’d expect from a top-tier hotel. The beds are seriously comfortable — like, sink-into-them-and-forget-the-world comfortable. You can tell they’ve invested in quality linens and mattresses, which actually makes a huge difference when you’re dealing with London’s busy pace and want proper rest. Every detail reflects careful consideration.

Dining and Amenities

The breakfast setup is pretty impressive, honestly. They’ve got everything covered — full English, vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free options, all laid out buffet-style. The restaurant space itself feels grand but not stuffy, with those beautiful original windows letting in loads of natural light. What I appreciated was that they don’t just tick boxes with the food options — the quality is genuinely there, and you can tell they care about getting it right for everyone. The dining experience elevates your entire stay.

Why Guests Love It

There’s something special about staying somewhere with such a strong sense of place and history. The staff seem to understand that you’re not just looking for a bed — you want to feel connected to this vibrant part of London. The combination of that courthouse grandeur, the creative Shoreditch energy, and genuine luxury touches creates this experience that feels both sophisticated and authentic. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself lingering in the lobby or taking the long way back just to soak up the atmosphere a bit more. This hotel truly captures the essence of modern luxury.

Had all the basic things covered as you would expect from any hotel. And the room was large and clean, as was the bathroom.

I parked at a euro car parks car park around the corner which was ok and seemed the closest being just a 6 min walk.

The staff were very pleasant and efficient.

Title: Exceptional Service at Courthouse Hotel – A Special Shoutout to Vishal!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Courthouse Hotel for the second time after six years, and while my experience was mostly enjoyable, it was Vishal, a remarkable staff member, who truly made my stay unforgettable.

Upon arrival, I encountered a minor issue with the shower drainage in my room. I attempted to get it sorted the previous night, but it remained unresolved. However, when I reached out to Vishal, he sprang into action without hesitation. Not only did he address the issue promptly, but he also went above and beyond to ensure that I was comfortable and satisfied. His willingness to step out of his comfort zone and lend a helping hand was genuinely commendable. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated to their guests, and Vishal is indeed a gem in the Courthouse Hotel’s team.

While my overall experience was positive, I must mention that the food was somewhat disappointing compared to the delightful menu I remembered from my last visit. I hope the hotel considers revamping the dining options to match the high standards set by their exceptional staff.

Nonetheless, it was Vishal’s outstanding service that will bring me back to the Courthouse Hotel. His attentiveness and genuine care for guests are qualities that should be celebrated. Thank you, Vishal, for making my stay memorable! I look forward to returning, hoping to see some improvements in the menu alongside the excellent service.

I want to thank the staff at Courthouse for their kindness. We were at the hotel celebrating our 3 year anniversary, a note I added when booking the hotel and was not expecting anything, not only did they upgrade our room but they left us a slice of lovely chocolate orange cake which went down a treat. We had a drink on the rooftop terrace and I got a mango frozen daiquiri and it was delicious! Really smooth and tasty. We had a swim in the indoor pool and used the sauna and steam room which was small but nice. The staff were very friendly, helping us find our way

I love the location, right in the heart of Shoreditch. The hotel was clean and staff were polite. We booked the bowling which was great for our 2 young children, we had the whole games room to ourselves. The roof top bar is lovely and the views are amazing, really recommend the roof top.
