Lamb’s Conduit Street is right there with these brilliant little independent shops and cafes that locals actually use (try the coffee at Store Street Espresso – just trust me on this one). The British Museum is close enough that you can pop over for an hour without making it this whole big expedition, and Covent Garden is an easy stroll when you want the touristy stuff. What I really love though is that you’re walking distance to both the chaos of Camden Market and the calm of the gorgeous garden squares in Bloomsbury – so depending on your mood, you can have completely different London experiences.

The whole area comes alive in this brilliant way during the day. You’ve got the university crowd from UCL mixing with the market vendors and the publishing people (loads of publishers have offices around here), so there’s this constant buzz of actual Londoners doing their thing. Plus – and this might sound small but it matters – there are proper grocery stores within walking distance, not just overpriced corner shops. The owners clearly know the neighborhood well because everything about the flat’s setup shows they understand what visitors actually need. Check-in was smooth, communication was spot-on, and they even left decent coffee and tea, which is such a small thing that makes a huge difference when you’re jet-lagged and everything feels overwhelming.
