Elysee Hyde Park Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Elysee Hyde Park on Craven Terrace, you immediately get that classic London townhouse vibe — it’s one of those converted Victorian terraces that feels authentically British without trying too hard. The three-star property sits quietly on a tree-lined street, and honestly, the location is what really makes this place shine. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Hyde Park’s northeast corner, which means you can actually hear the city buzz fade as you approach your hotel each evening.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about this spot in London — you’re in Paddington, but the good part of Paddington. Lancaster Gate tube station is right around the corner, so you can be in Oxford Circus in about ten minutes, but when you come home, you’re stepping into this peaceful residential pocket. The couples who stay here clearly get it (they rate the location 9.2, which honestly makes perfect sense). You’ve got Hyde Park for morning runs or evening strolls, and Bayswater Road with its cafes and pubs is just there when you need it.

The Room Experience

The rooms are what you’d expect from a well-maintained three-star — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged without any unnecessary frills. I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or designer furniture, but everything works properly and the beds are actually comfortable. Each room has that slightly cozy British feel, and the windows in the front-facing ones give you glimpses of the tree-lined street. The bathrooms are compact but functional — you know, typical London hotel size where everything fits but you’re not doing yoga in the shower.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast situation here is actually pretty solid for a hotel this size. They do both a full English/Irish breakfast and a buffet setup, which gives you options depending on your mood. The full English is properly done — none of that sad, reheated stuff you sometimes get. If you’re not in the mood for a heavy breakfast, the buffet has continental options that’ll get you going. There’s no on-site restaurant for dinner, but honestly, with Bayswater and Notting Hill so close, you’d be missing out if you didn’t explore the neighborhood anyway.

Why Guests Love It

What really works about Elysee Hyde Park is that it delivers exactly what it promises — a comfortable, well-located base for exploring London without any pretense. The staff seems to genuinely care about making your stay smooth, and there’s something refreshing about a hotel that focuses on getting the basics absolutely right rather than trying to be something it’s not. You’ll pay less than you would for similar quality in Covent Garden or South Kensington, but you’re still perfectly positioned to reach everything that matters. Plus, having Hyde Park as your backyard for morning coffee or evening wind-downs? That’s worth quite a bit in a city where green space feels precious.

Locals suggest to book apartments in London around Marylebone for farmers markets, bookshops, and leafy mews.

  • Yvonne from United Kingdom (7/10)

The room was clean. We didn't expect that it would be cleaned every day & new towels would be provided daily. We truly appreciate that the staff even took the initiative to fix our belongings left on the bed. Also, we could make teas which were provided together with a mini kettle pot. The corridors have a wonderfully fresh and relaxing scent that adds to the overall experience. The staff was accommodating.

Location was great, close to a tube station. Beds were comfortable and surprisingly quiet (I'm a sensitive sleeper).
