The Northern Line will get you into central London in about 20 minutes, though I found myself wanting to stay in the area more than I expected.

The Room

My room was small but thoughtfully designed — they’ve clearly put effort into making the most of the space without it feeling cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the bathroom was modern enough to feel fresh while keeping some of that period character. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything was, especially considering you’re above a pub. The windows actually open (a rarity these days), and there’s decent WiFi throughout. Don’t expect a massive TV or fancy amenities — this is a three-star place that knows exactly what it is and does it well.

Food & Atmosphere

The downstairs restaurant is where this place really shines. The menu changes regularly, but everything I tried was genuinely good — not just “good for pub food,” but actually good. The Sunday roast was outstanding, and they do a proper breakfast that’ll set you up for the day. The staff clearly know their regulars, which gives the whole place this neighborhood feel that’s hard to fake. You’ll find yourself chatting with locals at the bar, and that’s half the charm really.

Look, if you want a generic hotel experience with a concierge and room service, this isn’t your place.
