Garden Court Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to the Garden Court Hotel on Kensington Gardens Square, you’ll immediately notice how it blends into the elegant Victorian terrace — and honestly, that’s exactly what you want in this part of London. The building feels authentically British without trying too hard, which I appreciate after staying at places that go overboard with the “ye olde” theme. It’s a three-star property, but the location more than makes up for any lack of fancy amenities you might find elsewhere.

The Notting Hill Advantage

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally steps from Hyde Park, and I mean literally. You can actually see Kensington Gardens from some windows, which explains why couples rate the location so highly (apparently 9.1 out of 10, and I get it). Portobello Road is a quick walk away, perfect for Saturday market browsing, and you’ve got both Bayswater and Queensway tube stations nearby. The neighborhood has that perfect mix of residential calm and tourist accessibility — you know what I mean, where you feel like you’re living in London rather than just visiting it.

The Room Experience

The rooms are what you’d expect from a well-maintained London townhouse hotel — not huge, but thoughtfully laid out. My room had that classic British hotel feel with floral patterns and dark wood furniture that somehow works perfectly in this setting. The windows are decent-sized for London standards, and if you’re lucky enough to face the garden square, mornings feel surprisingly peaceful. The bathrooms are compact but functional — honestly, I’ve stayed in much pricier places with worse water pressure.

Breakfast and Daily Rhythms

The breakfast setup is pretty solid — they do both continental and buffet options, which gives you flexibility depending on whether you’re rushing off to museums or planning a lazy morning. I actually found myself lingering over coffee more than usual, partly because the dining area has this relaxed vibe that doesn’t make you feel like you need to hurry up and leave. The staff seems genuinely helpful rather than just polite, which makes a difference when you’re trying to figure out the best route to wherever you’re headed that day.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest hotel you’ll ever stay in, but it gets the fundamentals right in a way that matters. The location really is exceptional — I found myself walking to places I would have taken the tube to from other hotels, just because everything felt so accessible. There’s something to be said for falling asleep to the quiet of a garden square rather than the usual London traffic noise. For the price point and the neighborhood, it’s one of those places that leaves you thinking you made a smart choice rather than wondering if you should have splurged on something flashier.

Exploring London drifts through historic pubs, modern galleries, and dusk-lit bridges arching over the Thames.

Garden Court Hotel provided a clean and cosy stay for our 3 night visit to London. The room was well kept and the bed was super comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating as we had an issue with noisy guests which was promptly dealt with and they allowed us to leave our luggage for some time after checkout so that we could finish up exploring the city. The security system was also favourable as you needed to buzz in in order to enter if you did not have a key card. This added a layer of protection that allowed us to relax and feel nice and safe- which was a bit of a worry of mine prior to visiting London. Overall, the Garden Court Hotel provided us with a reliable and comfortable stay a stones-throw from the Queensway tube station, allowing us to effortlessly navigate throughout our holiday. I would recommend if you're looking for bang for your buck!
