Gatwick Cambridge Hotel Overview
First Impressions
The Gatwick Cambridge Hotel sits quietly on Bonehurst Road in Horley, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want when you’re dealing with early morning flights. This four-star property has that reassuring feel of a place that knows its purpose — getting you rested before or after your journey without any unnecessary fuss. The building itself is understated, but there’s something comforting about walking into a hotel where the staff actually recognize returning guests (and trust me, there are quite a few of them here).
Location That Actually Works
You know what I love about this spot? It’s close enough to Gatwick that you’re not stressed about making your flight, but far enough away that you don’t hear planes overhead all night. The walk to the airport takes about 15 minutes if you’re feeling energetic, though most people just grab a quick taxi ride. Horley itself is one of those English towns that doesn’t try too hard — there’s a decent high street nearby with a Tesco and some local pubs if you need to grab something or want a proper meal before heading off.
The Room Experience
My room was exactly what I needed after a long day of travel — clean, quiet, and surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect near an airport. The beds are actually comfortable (not just hotel-comfortable), and the blackout curtains do their job properly. There’s free Wi-Fi that works without constantly dropping out, which seems basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong. The bathroom was modern enough, though nothing fancy — just well-maintained and functional.
Practical Perks
The private parking here is honestly a game-changer if you’re driving to catch a flight. No hunting around for spaces or worrying about your car while you’re away — it’s right there at the hotel. The breakfast is solid too, nothing revolutionary but they do a proper English breakfast alongside continental options. I mean, when you’re catching a 7 AM flight, you just want something decent in your stomach and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around for hours.
Why Guests Love It
There’s a reason people keep coming back to this place — it just works without any drama. The staff seem to genuinely care about getting you sorted quickly, whether you’re checking in late or need to leave at some ungodly hour. Couples particularly seem to appreciate the peaceful location (I can see why), and the fact that you can actually get a good night’s sleep before traveling makes all the difference. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in the area, but sometimes you just want a place that does the basics really well, and that’s exactly what you get here.
Hotels near me in London deliver quick strolls to theatre premieres, Borough tastings, and canal-side cycling.

John from United Kingdom (8/10)
I had to take a taxi to find the hotel, and to do that I had to walk into town. There were no taxis at the station. It was a 10 – 15 minute walk. Having little baggage, the walk didn't do me any harm. The bar and restaurant staff were professional and the food was average. Unfortunately I couldn't stay for breakfast – far too early for me. The transfer to Gatwick was efficient and on time. In general, I got what I wanted for a price I was willing to pay. I will probably use this hotel again.
