Hamlet Hotels Maidstone Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hamlet Hotels Maidstone, you immediately get that reliable, no-nonsense vibe that makes business travelers and couples feel right at home. It’s not trying to be something it isn’t — this three-star property on London Road knows exactly what it does well and sticks to it. The lobby feels welcoming without being flashy, and honestly, after staying at places that promise the world and deliver chaos, there’s something refreshing about a hotel that just gets the basics absolutely right.
Location & Getting Around
The spot on London Road is actually pretty smart if you know Maidstone at all. You’re close enough to the town center that you can walk to shops and restaurants, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with weekend noise from the high street. What really sold me was the free parking — and I mean actually free, not “complimentary with a £20 daily resort fee” nonsense. For couples especially, this location hits that sweet spot where you can explore Kent’s countryside during the day and still grab dinner somewhere decent without driving for ages.
The Room Experience
My room was exactly what you’d expect from a solid three-star — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out. The bed was genuinely comfortable (you know how some hotels cheap out on mattresses), and there was enough space to actually unpack without playing furniture Tetris. The bathroom wasn’t huge, but it had good water pressure and stayed warm, which honestly matters more than marble countertops when you’re getting ready in the morning.
Breakfast & Dining
Here’s where Hamlet Hotels really surprised me — the breakfast spread is way more comprehensive than you’d expect. They’ve got continental options, but also proper vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The buffet setup flows well, and if you’re rushing to catch an early meeting, they’ll sort you out with breakfast to go. I mean, it’s not going to win any culinary awards, but it’s fresh, filling, and there’s enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying multiple nights. The kitchen staff clearly take pride in what they prepare.
Why Guests Love It
What strikes me most about this place is how many people come back — there’s definitely something to be said for a hotel that builds that kind of loyalty. Maybe it’s because they don’t overpromise and underdeliver, or maybe it’s just that the staff genuinely seem to care about making your stay work. The fact that couples consistently rate the location so highly tells you something too — when you’re traveling together, you want a place that feels like a proper base, not just somewhere to crash between activities. Hamlet Hotels Maidstone delivers exactly that kind of reliable comfort that keeps guests returning year after year.

Reviews of Hamlet Hotels Maidstone
Kim from Australia (8/10)
Wow, what a difference a new proactive manager has made to this hotel. We had previously stayed at the hotel pre-covid on a number of occasions and had seen the decline in the building so where very presently surprised on the improvements that have been made since we last stayed. Refurbished, clean and comfortable rooms, with new carpet, bedding, T.V's etc. The general ambiance of the property was very welcoming as were the helpful, polite and informative staff. Breakfast was buffet style, delicious and hot with plenty of variety and I had one of the best curries I have eaten in the restaurant for dinner one night. The manager was a delight to speak with and actively sought feedback from guests so that he could continue to improve services. All in all, an excellent stay, and great value for money and will be our first choice on returning to England and Kent.
