Hotel Description
Honestly, the Hilton London Euston surprised me – and I don’t say that lightly about chain hotels. You know that slightly skeptical feeling you get when booking a big brand hotel in central London? Well, this one actually delivers more than you’d expect for the area.
The location is what really sold me on this place. Sure, everyone talks about being “close to everything,” but here’s what that actually means: you’re literally a two-minute walk from Euston Station, which sounds touristy until you realize how genius this is. I mean, you’ve got the Northern line right there for getting to Camden Market (about 10 minutes), plus direct trains to pretty much anywhere in the UK. The hotel sits on Upper Woburn Place, which is one of those lovely Georgian terraced streets that makes you feel properly London-ish – much quieter than you’d expect given how central you are. There’s a Pret around the corner (essential for morning coffee runs), and if you walk five minutes toward Russell Square, you’ll hit some genuinely good pubs that aren’t total tourist traps.
What I appreciated most was how the hotel feels substantial without being stuffy. The lobby has this warm, lived-in elegance – think rich wood tones and comfortable seating where you’d actually want to wait for someone. The rooms are well, they’re Hilton rooms, but done thoughtfully. Mine had a proper desk (rare in London hotels), decent lighting for reading, and – this matters more than it should – curtains that actually blocked out light. The bathroom was spacious by London standards, with one of those rainfall showers that works properly. I stayed on the fifth floor and barely heard any street noise, which honestly shocked me given we’re talking about central London here. Check-in was refreshingly smooth, even during what seemed like a busy conference week.
Now, the 7.1 rating makes sense when you dig into the details. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in London – the décor is pleasant but not Instagram-worthy, and the fitness center is adequate rather than impressive. But here’s the thing: it does everything well without any major fumbles. The staff genuinely seemed to know the neighborhood (got great restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious choices), the WiFi actually worked throughout the building, and breakfast, while pricey, was properly good rather than the usual hotel buffet sadness. If you’re someone who appreciates reliability over flashiness, and you want to be genuinely well-positioned for both business and exploring London, this place hits that sweet spot. Plus, there’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t oversell itself – it just quietly does its job really well.
