Holiday Inn Express London-Hammersmith, an IHG Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Holiday Inn Express London-Hammersmith, an IHG Hotel on King Street, you immediately get that “this works” feeling. It’s not trying to be something it isn’t — this three-star property knows exactly what it does well and delivers on it consistently. The lobby feels fresh and modern without being sterile, and honestly, the staff seem genuinely happy to see you, which isn’t always a given in London.
Location That Actually Makes Sense
Here’s what I love about Hammersmith — you’re properly in London but not drowning in tourist chaos. The hotel sits right on King Street, which means you’ve got the Hammersmith & City line practically on your doorstep, plus the Piccadilly line at Hammersmith station. You can be in Covent Garden in about 20 minutes, but when you come back at night, you’re in this lovely residential area with actual pubs where locals drink. The couples who rate this location so highly (8.7 apparently) aren’t wrong — there’s something romantic about walking along the Thames path just five minutes away, especially toward Chiswick.
The Room Experience
The room itself is what you’d expect from Holiday Inn Express, but done really well. I mean, the beds are genuinely comfortable — not just marketing speak comfortable, but the kind where you actually sleep through the night. The bathrooms are compact but cleverly designed, and there’s proper water pressure in the shower, which honestly matters more than fancy toiletries. What surprised me was how quiet it stays despite being on a main road; the windows do their job well.
Breakfast and Practical Bits
The continental breakfast buffet is actually quite decent — fresh pastries, proper coffee, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying several days. They’ve got the usual suspects but also some nice touches like fresh fruit and decent yogurt. Parking is available on-site, which is honestly a godsend in this part of London where street parking can be a nightmare. It’s not cheap, but if you’re driving in London, you probably already know that’s just how it is.
Why Guests Love It
This hotel works because it gets the fundamentals right without any fuss. You’re staying somewhere that feels safe, clean, and well-run, in a neighborhood that gives you a proper taste of London life beyond the tourist trail. The transport links mean you can explore easily, but you’re also in walking distance of some lovely riverside walks and genuine local pubs. It’s the kind of place where business travelers and couples both feel comfortable, which actually says quite a lot about how they’ve pitched it. The staff attention to detail and consistent service make this a standout choice for discerning travelers.
Exploring London drifts through historic pubs, modern galleries, and dusk-lit bridges arching over the Thames.

The bartender/security guy and the kind sir that checked us in. They were super kind. And also happy hour was great. The location was great only a 10 min walk from public transport and a lot of shops and food nearby with a restaurant at the front of the hotel (take the alleyway to get to the front of the hotel)
