Hotel DC, Stratford Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel DC, Stratford, you’ll notice it sits right on Romford Road — not the quietest street, but honestly, that’s part of what makes this three-star spot work so well. It’s got that unpretentious London vibe where you’re staying somewhere real rather than some sanitized tourist bubble. The building itself is straightforward, no fancy facade, but there’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t try too hard to impress you before you’ve even walked through the door.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I really appreciated about staying here — you’re actually in Stratford, not just visiting it. The Olympic Park is close enough that you can walk there if you’re feeling energetic, and Stratford station is right there when you need to get into central London quickly. What surprised me was how this area has its own rhythm during the day, with local shops and cafes that aren’t just catering to tourists. You know what’s also nice? The parking situation — they’ve got private spots available, which honestly saves you a headache if you’re driving in London.

The Room Experience

My room was clean and functional — I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or anything fancy, but everything worked properly and the bed was actually comfortable. The windows face the street, so there’s a bit of traffic noise, but it wasn’t anything that kept me awake. What I liked was that the space felt genuine rather than trying to be something it’s not. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, and there were enough plugs near the bed for charging devices (small thing, but it matters).

Practical Considerations

The staff here seem to know what they’re doing without being overly formal about it. Check-in was straightforward, and when I had a question about getting to a specific area of London, they actually gave me useful local advice rather than just pointing to a tourist map. There’s no fancy restaurant on-site, but honestly, you’re better off exploring the local food scene anyway — there are some genuinely good spots within walking distance that you’d never find if you stayed cocooned in a hotel dining room.

Why Guests Love It

This place works because it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. Couples seem to particularly enjoy it here — probably because it feels like you’re experiencing London as locals rather than as tourists passing through. The value is solid for what you get, and the location gives you that perfect balance of being connected to everything while still feeling like you’re staying somewhere with character. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day easily, and don’t feel like you’re missing out on the real London experience.

Apartments in London suit remote teams with Georgian bay windows, fast fibre, and shared studios overlooking courtyards.

Reviews of Hotel DC, Stratford

  • Tereza from Czech Republic (9/10)

I stayed here for the second time and the accommodation again exceeded our expectations. I took my parents with me and they were also very happy. The hotel is very nice and comfortable, right in front of the hotel there is a bus stop, 5minute journey to the metro. You can get to central London in about 40 minutes.

  • Tomas from Czech Republic (8/10)

I really appreciate all the staff, very friendly, allways smiling, allways helpful. Asking how your day was.
The breakfast was alright, nothing too fancy, but enough to choose from.

  • Can from Italy (7/10)

The place is okay in terms of transport, it's not in the center but the Forest Park station (Elizabeth Line) is about 12 mins walk and Stratford station, which is very well-connected, is 6-7 minutes with a bus.

The facilities are very new, it's all in very good condition. The heating was working very well and it's not centralized, so you can control how warm you want your room easily. Beds were comfortable. People at the reception were friendly. Breakfast is classic English breakfast, it's nice to have but same every day, so it can get a bit boring after a couple of days!

  • Cheryl from United Kingdom (8/10)

Great location, very friendly staff, nice room and lovely breakfast!

  • Simon from United Kingdom (8/10)

    The breakfast was adequate.

  • Georgios from Greece (9/10)

    – Helpful, kind people. Made us feel welcome.
    – Bus station 2mins away. Train station within walking distance (~15mins, but you can take a bus, they pass by every ~5mins).
    – Good WiFi.
    – Breakfast was ok, although not many choices.
    – Worth the money.
    – Towels changed every day, even though we didn't even ask.

  • Daniel from United Kingdom (8/10)

I liked that the communal area was right next to the reception desk, so I could get a cup of tea, or other soft drink to hand if I wanted. The staff were very polite and positive. The corridors leading to the room were very clean. Plenty of plug points to use in the room.

The hotel is over ten minutes walk away from the Forest Gate tube station, and the road that leads to it has shops and restaurants that suited my purposes.

The level of cleaning, the renovated bathroom, the heat in the room, the provision of breakfast, the bus stations near the hotel location
