ibis London Blackfriars Overview
First Impressions
Walking into ibis London Blackfriars, you immediately get that “this is exactly what I needed” feeling. It’s one of those three-star hotels that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — just clean, efficient, and surprisingly well-located for the price point. The lobby has that modern ibis aesthetic with pops of red and contemporary furniture, and honestly, after a long day of sightseeing in London, it feels like a proper refuge.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about this spot on Blackfriars Road — you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from both the Thames and some of London’s best attractions, but you’re not paying those insane Zone 1 hotel prices. Blackfriars Station is right there (I mean, really right there), which connects you to both the Underground and National Rail services. You can walk to the Tate Modern in about ten minutes, cross the Millennium Bridge to St. Paul’s, or head south to Borough Market when you want proper food. The couples rating of 9.2 makes total sense — it’s romantic enough for evening Thames walks but practical enough that you’re not blowing your entire budget on accommodation.
The Room Experience
The room itself is compact but thoughtfully designed — classic ibis style where everything has its place. You’ve got a comfortable bed (which, let’s be honest, is what really matters after walking 20,000 steps around London), decent storage space, and a bathroom that’s small but functional. The windows actually open, which is something you don’t always get in London hotels, and if you’re lucky enough to get a higher floor, you might catch glimpses of the city skyline. It’s not going to win any design awards, but it’s exactly what you need for a good night’s sleep.
Breakfast Worth Mentioning
I was genuinely surprised by the breakfast setup here. They’ve got the full English sorted, obviously, but what caught my attention was how well they handle dietary requirements — proper vegan options, gluten-free choices that don’t look sad and forgotten, and a buffet that’s actually well-maintained throughout the morning. You know what’s nice? They don’t rush you out, so you can actually sit with your coffee and plan your day without feeling like you’re taking up valuable real estate.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.1 location score isn’t just marketing fluff — this hotel really does nail the sweet spot between accessibility and value. You’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually relax. The staff seem to get that most guests are here to explore London, not hang out in the hotel, so they’re efficient and helpful without being overly chatty. There’s parking available if you’re driving (though honestly, why would you in central London?), and the whole operation just runs smoothly. It’s the kind of place where you check in, drop your bags, and head out to explore — then come back grateful for a comfortable bed and a hot shower.

The location is ideal, just a few hundred metres from a tube station, the Old Vic and the Young Vic.
It's in Zone 1 so easy to get to all the popular spots. For such a great location, the price was reasonableHeather from United Kingdom (7/10)
The room and bathroom were very clean and had all the basics you would need including a hairdryer, kettle and iron/ironing board. The location was very central. I was really impressed at how quiet my room was especially being on the third floor above a busy main road. Lots of plug points in the room.
