Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Interlude House on Long Acre, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside. It’s tucked into this stretch between Covent Garden and Holborn that most tourists rush past without a second glance. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the chaos of Covent Garden Market, but somehow this little pocket feels worlds away from all that tourist madness.

The thing about this place is that it gets the balance right in a way that’s surprisingly hard to find in central London. I mean, you’re staying in what’s essentially a converted period building – and they’ve kept enough of the original character that it doesn’t feel like you’re sleeping in some soulless box. The rooms have these lovely high ceilings and decent-sized windows, which is honestly a miracle given how cramped most London hotels can be. What really struck me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re right in the thick of things. Long Acre gets its fair share of foot traffic during the day, but once the shops close up (and there are some brilliant little independent places right on your doorstep), it settles down nicely.

The staff actually seem to know the neighborhood – not just the obvious tourist spots, but where to grab proper coffee at 7am or which pub has the best Sunday roast within walking distance. They pointed me toward this tiny Portuguese place on Drury Lane that I never would’ve found otherwise. And speaking of walking, this is one of those rare London locations where you can genuinely walk to most places you’d want to go. Theatre district? Five minutes. British Museum? Ten-minute stroll through some lovely backstreets. Even Oxford Street is doable on foot if you don’t mind a bit of a walk – though honestly, why would you subject yourself to that when you’ve got all of Covent Garden and Seven Dials right here? The 8.7 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here a night or two. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in London, but everything just… works. Hot water that actually stays hot, WiFi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and a breakfast setup that doesn’t make you want to flee to the nearest café. Sometimes that’s all you really need, especially when you’re paying London hotel prices and half the time you’re just looking for a clean, comfortable base to crash between all the wandering around you’ll inevitably do.
