Lancaster Hall Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Lancaster Hall Hotel on Craven Terrace, you immediately get that classic London townhouse vibe — you know, the kind of elegant Victorian building that makes you feel like you’re stepping into a period drama. It’s a three-star property, but honestly, the location does most of the heavy lifting here. The entrance has that understated British charm, nothing flashy, just solid and welcoming in that distinctly London way.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about staying in London — location is everything, and this place absolutely nails it. You’re in Westminster Borough, which means you can actually walk to most of the major sights without feeling like you need a sherpa. Hyde Park is literally across the street (I mean, how often can you say that?), and Paddington Station is close enough that you’ll hear the occasional train rumble, but not so close that it’s annoying. The couples who stay here seem to get it — they’ve rated the location 9.4, and after spending time in the area, I totally understand why.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully arranged — typical London style where every square foot counts. The decor strikes that balance between traditional and updated, with decent lighting and a comfortable bed that actually let me sleep through the night. You’re not getting high-end finishes here, but everything works well, and the windows offer nice views of either the terrace or the park, depending on which side you’re on. The bathroom was clean and functional, though don’t expect a spa experience.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast setup is pretty straightforward — they offer both continental and buffet options, which gives you some flexibility depending on whether you’re rushing off to catch a morning tour or taking your time. The buffet has the usual suspects: eggs, bacon, toast, cereals, and surprisingly decent coffee. It’s served in a pleasant dining area that gets good morning light, and the staff keeps everything well-stocked. Nothing groundbreaking, but it’ll definitely fuel you for a day of London exploring.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it delivers on the fundamentals without any pretense. You’re paying for that prime Westminster location, and you’re getting exactly that — easy access to everything from Buckingham Palace to Oxford Street, with Hyde Park as your backyard. The staff knows the neighborhood well and can point you toward the good local pubs and shortcuts that tourists usually miss. It’s the kind of place where you spend minimal time in your room because London is right outside your door, but when you do come back, everything just works. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about strolling through Hyde Park in the evening and knowing your hotel is just steps away.

Early hotels booking in London secures West End premieres, private palace tours, and river cruise brunches.

Reviews of Lancaster Hall Hotel

  • Ömer from Turkey (8/10)

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Location was perfect and rooms were quieter than I thought it would be.

  • Ole from Norway (7/10)

If this had been anywhere other than London, I would have said that we were paying too much for too little. However, considering the prices and standards of London hotels, I would say that Lancaster Hall is a good option. The room felt a bit dated, but it was clean and of a decent size. I appreciated that the heating was easy to adjust and that it was possible to open the windows for fresh air. All the staff members were polite and extremely friendly. The location is also excellent—a quiet street just a 5-minute walk from Paddington Station.

  • Shelley from Canada (8/10)
