Hotel Description
You know what really struck me about this place? Walking up to Vermont House on Dingley Road, I actually had to double-check the address because it looks way more upscale than you’d expect from the photos. The building itself has this solid, converted warehouse vibe that screams proper London – none of that shiny new development nonsense you see everywhere else.
Once you’re inside the apartment, honestly, it feels like someone’s mate who works in tech just happened to have incredible taste. The two bedrooms are genuinely spacious (and I mean proper spacious, not London estate agent spacious), with these huge windows that let in amazing light during the day. The kitchen actually has counter space where you can prep a real meal, which is sort of a miracle in central London. I spent most mornings making coffee there while watching the neighborhood wake up – there’s something oddly satisfying about seeing the Clerkenwell crowd heading to work from your window. The whole place has this lived-in but polished feel, like everything’s been chosen carefully but not obsessed over.
What really sells this spot though is just how perfectly positioned it is. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Old Street station, which sounds obvious given the name, but I mean a proper five minutes, not that “London five minutes” that somehow turns into fifteen when you’re running late. Exmouth Market is right around the corner – honestly one of my favorite little strips in London for grabbing lunch or finding somewhere decent for dinner that won’t completely destroy your budget. And here’s the thing locals know: you’re close enough to Shoreditch to pop over for drinks, but far enough away that you don’t have to deal with the weekend chaos and noise. The area gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, which is perfect if you actually want to sleep. Parking is typical London nightmare stuff, but with Old Street and Farringdon stations so close, you really don’t need a car anyway. The only minor thing – and this is being picky – is that the building entrance can be a bit tricky to find the first time, especially if you’re arriving after dark. But once you’ve done it once, it’s fine. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I needed the extra bedroom for friends or just wanted to spread out a bit. It’s got that sweet spot of feeling like a proper London flat without the premium you’d pay in Marylebone or Notting Hill.
