Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place? It’s tucked away on Bream’s Buildings, which honestly feels like one of those secret London streets that even locals sometimes miss. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of the City – like, proper financial district territory – but the moment you step inside, it’s this surprisingly calm bubble away from all the suited chaos outside.
The flat itself is actually quite spacious for London standards, and I’m saying this as someone who’s stayed in my fair share of “cozy” (read: tiny) places around here. Two proper bedrooms, which is brilliant if you’re traveling with family or don’t want to fight over bathroom time. The living area has this lovely natural light that streams in during the day – something you definitely don’t take for granted in this part of the city where buildings practically lean on each other. The kitchen’s well-equipped too, though honestly, with Borough Market just a short walk south and all those brilliant pubs around Chancery Lane, you might find yourself eating out more than cooking in.
What I really love about the location is how walkable everything is. Fleet Street’s right there – you can practically smell the history and old newspaper ink – and if you’re into that sort of thing, you’re minutes from Temple and all those gorgeous Inns of Court. The tube connections are solid; Chancery Lane and City Thameslink are both close, so getting anywhere in London is pretty straightforward. Fair warning though – weekdays can get properly busy around here with all the office workers, but evenings and weekends? It’s almost eerily quiet, which is actually quite nice if you want to feel like you have central London to yourself.
The 7.7 rating feels about right to me – it’s a solid choice without being flashy. The building itself has that classic London character (translation: the lift’s a bit temperamental and you might hear the occasional creak), but everything inside the flat feels modern and comfortable. I stayed during a particularly rainy October, and the heating worked brilliantly, which honestly deserves a mention because some London rentals can leave you shivering.
One thing worth noting – if you’re driving, parking around here is… well, let’s just say you’re better off using public transport or budgeting for a nearby car park. But really, you won’t need a car anyway. Everything’s within walking distance, from St. Paul’s Cathedral to the Thames, and there’s something quite magical about stepping out your door and being able to wander through streets that have been here for centuries. It’s properly London in the best possible way – not touristy central, but authentic and lived-in, if that makes sense.
