Hackney gets a bad rap sometimes, but this part of it — around Clapton Common — is actually quite lovely. You’re about a 15-minute walk to Hackney Downs station, which gets you into central London in under 20 minutes. What I really appreciated was the free private parking right at the hotel, which is honestly a godsend in London where you’d normally pay through the nose for it. The common itself is perfect for morning walks, and there are some genuinely good local pubs within stumbling distance if that’s your thing.

The Room Experience

My room was on the second floor — no lift, so pack light if you can — and while it wasn’t huge, it was thoughtfully laid out. The bed was comfortable enough, and I mean properly comfortable, not just hotel-speak comfortable. The bathroom was compact but functional, with decent water pressure in the shower. You know what struck me most? The attention to small details — proper hangers in the wardrobe, bedside tables big enough for your phone and a book, that sort of thing that makes a difference when you’re actually living in the space.

There’s no full restaurant on-site, but they do serve a continental breakfast that’s better than you’d expect — proper coffee, fresh pastries, and they don’t skimp on the portions. For other meals, you’re actually in a great spot because Hackney has developed this fantastic food scene over the past few years. The staff pointed me toward a brilliant Turkish place just five minutes away that became my go-to dinner spot. The hotel itself keeps things simple but does them well — reliable WiFi, clean common areas, and a front desk that’s genuinely helpful rather than just polite.

  Well appointed rooms, looked to be newly renovated. Very helpful and friendly staff.
  Great bakery nearby and top class restaurant adjacent. Near to transport and big supermarket. We extended our stay at Park Avenue due to contracting CoVid. Housekeeper checked on us daily to ensure we had everything we needed.

  The room and bathroom were clearly newly decorated. Lots of towels with extra in the wardrobe if needed. Lovely touch of having free drinks in the mini fridge. Bed so comfy! All staff we met were friendly and helpful.

  we had a good time in this establishment. As a family in a quadruple room, there is everything you need! The room is clean and comfortable, the location is ideal a few minutes from seven sisters and the overground. special mention to the lady who welcomed us, she is adorable!
