Pelican London Hotel and Residence Overview
First Impressions
The Pelican London Hotel and Residence sits on a quiet residential street in Tooting, and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star property doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s a solid, comfortable place that’s won over plenty of guests who keep coming back. You know what struck me most? How peaceful it feels despite being in London. The building has this understated presence that makes you feel like you’ve found a little secret in South London.
The Tooting Advantage
I’ll be honest — Tooting isn’t exactly tourist central, but that’s actually why it works so well. You’re in a proper London neighborhood where people actually live, with fantastic curry houses (seriously, some of the best Indian food in the city) and the Northern line whisking you into central London in about 20 minutes. Couples seem to really get this location — they’ve rated it 8.2, which makes sense when you realize you can pop into town for sightseeing then come back to somewhere that feels genuinely local. Plus, parking here is infinitely easier than anywhere near the tourist zones.
Sleep Quality That Actually Matters
Here’s something you don’t always expect from a mid-range hotel — genuinely comfortable beds. I mean, guests consistently rave about the sleep quality here, and after staying a night, I totally get why. The room I had was nothing fancy, but everything worked properly and the bed was one of those where you actually wake up feeling rested rather than like you’ve been wrestling with lumpy pillows all night. The rooms are clean and functional, with enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped.
What Keeps People Coming Back
There’s something to be said for a place that has more repeat guests than most other properties — and the Pelican definitely falls into that category. I think it’s because they’ve figured out the basics really well without any unnecessary fuss. The staff are helpful without being overly formal, the building feels secure and well-maintained, and there’s this sense that they actually care about whether you have a decent stay. It’s not trying to wow you with flashy amenities, but rather making sure the fundamentals are spot-on.
Why Guests Love It
Look, if you want marble bathrooms and a rooftop bar, this isn’t your place. But if you want somewhere reliable, comfortable, and genuinely well-located for exploring both local London life and the main attractions, the Pelican hits that sweet spot perfectly. The fact that so many people return says everything — it’s the kind of place that grows on you, where you realize that sometimes the best travel experiences come from staying somewhere that feels real rather than resort-like. Plus, you’ll probably save enough money to actually enjoy London properly instead of blowing your budget on accommodation.

Reviews of Pelican London Hotel and Residence
Asanda from Sri Lanka (8/10)
We had a delightful stay at this hotel! The location is perfect, situated near a tube station for convenient transportation. The room exceeded our expectations – impeccably clean and tidy. The size was more than sufficient for a couple, and since our stay was only for a few nights, the room perfectly suited our plans. The pricing for our stay was fair, especially when considering the array of facilities provided.
