It sits right on Queensgate – actually, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Hyde Park’s entrance, which I didn’t fully appreciate until I was grabbing coffee at 7am and decided to wander through the gates instead of scrolling my phone.

The thing about this spot is that you’re in proper Kensington without the chaos of being right on Cromwell Road or Exhibition Road. I mean, you can still hear the occasional bus, but it’s more of a gentle city hum than constant traffic noise. The staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood too – when I asked about getting to Borough Market, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic map but told me which tube entrance to avoid during rush hour. Small thing, but you know what I mean? The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in elegance that feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a cookie-cutter hotel. Nothing flashy, but the bed was properly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom had that rainfall shower head that actually works, not the decorative kind that barely drizzles.

What really sold me was the location’s sweet spot factor. You’re close enough to pop into Harrods if that’s your thing – it’s honestly just a pleasant walk down Brompton Road – but you’re also near the quieter parts of Kensington Gardens where locals actually go for their morning runs. I found this little Italian place called Osteria Basilico just around the corner that definitely doesn’t cater to tourists, and there’s a proper pub (The Anglesea Arms) about five minutes away where you can get a decent pint without paying hotel bar prices. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the Savoy, but it delivers on what matters: location, comfort, and staff who seem to care about what they’re doing. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying in London rather than just visiting it, this place gets it right.
